Good list of 2010 Preseason Rankings for Iowa

I find some of these rankings pretty interesting. I mean yeah Iowa loses a lot with the OLine but our offense has a lot of playmakers coming back. On defense, Iowa returns arguably the best front 4 in football and basically the whole secondary (if Spievey comes back) with the addition of Bernstein back from injury. For Wisky (and Nebraska) to be ranked that far ahead of Iowa (in the Rivals rankings) is just plain wrong in my opinion.......

Considering everyone, except maybe Herbie and Corso, at the national pundit level, picked Ga Tech and Iowa's defense shut down their rushing offense (allowed 135 yards! vs their 304 yd per game average)............

I agree with Herbie and Andrrea Adelson of the Orlando Sentinel. Iowa is a Top 5 preseason team, next year! And the 2010 schedule is considerably more favorable than the one in 2009.

Good news for Hawkeye fans..............despite the fact that Alvarez and Bielema think they might have a chance at Iowa, for a change...........next year, they get to come back and visit Kinnick stadium. What a welcome for Barry and Bert that will be!

I just hope we play better at home in 2010 than we did in 2009

I think with so many new faces on the O-Line that we may be a little shaky up front early in the year. The nice thing is we will have experience all around them at RB, QB, and WR, so hopefully that will offset those concerns.

I would agree about playing better at home in 2010 did not play very well in 09 at Kinnick. Also one other concern is Iowa has never done well as a favorite under Ferentz he has always done better with not being the favorite we will see after 02,03,04 we were predicited as bottom half of Big Ten. In 05 finally came in rated in top 15 and not so good results so lets hope we can change that trend and Go Hawks

I dont see a really good defense on Iowa's schedule next year until Wisconsin comes to Kinnick...and even then, I would not put them in an elite category...PSU loses a lot...Michigan's defense the last two years have been arguably the worst in the history of that program...Arizona returns like four or five starters...ISU loses quite a bit...

IMO, that's pretty darned good news as I agree, Iowa could struggle early on along the OL

The 2005 team was a play away (one in each of two games) from being 9-3 at worst...they let one get away at NW when leading by ten in the 4th quarter and surrendering an onside kick...the Hawks also lost 23-20 at home to Michigan when they were playing very conservative at the end.

I think playing as a favorite matters mostly about the mindset and leadership that you have on your team, and also winning the close ones...Iowa didn't win the close ones in 2005...they have been on a pretty good streak of winning the close ones since PSU win at home last year
