All I care about is what is good for Iowa. So if Wiscy winning is a good thing for the Big10-Iowa then I'm for them.

How does a team that we compete with for recruits winning the Rose Bowl help Iowa, exactly?

BCS bowl wins describe conference strength. Would you rather the recruits go to the SEC because your too stubborn to support your own conference. If the members of your conference can't join in brotherhood conquer other opponents, who can we join with ?

We probably recruit against the other big ten teams more than we do SEC schools so the success of the big ten schools actually hurts iowa recruiting more than the big ten struggling in bowl games.

I think it helps get the B1G into the living rooms of the SEC though. Also helps keep the eastern and midwestern kids at home

The SEC has been better for some time... theres no debating that. If its that important to a recruit to play in a better conference it shouldnt be a tough choice for them. One or two wins in the outback or cap one bowl probably wont change their mind.

Ok officially become ESPN lovers then because that's all the crap that they spew. I'm loyal to my conference but you guys can join the SEC bias and love fest. Until we start winning as a conference 99% of coverage and news will go to the SEC. So, yes our members losing has a negative effect on us.

Your original post said it would get us into homes of the SEC. As far as keeping kids from the midwest... i think iowas results are much more important than conference results. I dont think any other conference other than the SEC can claim dominance. I also just dont feel that conference strength is that important to recruits. I think location is more important and the SEC has the advantage with weather and better high school recruits in the south that can stay closer to home.

A quick glance at our comitted recruits show that Wisconsin offered Faith, Jaleal, Lile and Fleming (perhaps more. I didnt check on all). And you want to root for our recruiting competition to look good on national TV? Why?
