Gilman 2!





Wow! Hadn't heard about Gilman yet. That is a serious weekend haul.

How many schollies does Iowa have available for next year?
 






This is outstanding! I though Gilman was out of the picture after talk not too long ago that Iowa was no longer recruiting him. I am ecstatic that Iowa poured it on and got him to see the light. This kid seems truly special and I can’t wait to see him in black and gold at the top of the podium.
 


Our fan base seemed to make the difference on Brooks. He mentioned in the DM Register blog how many fans squeezed into the practice room and that was one of the differences.
 


CR - I mentioned in another thread that Iowa packs more fans into an open practice than some teams get for an official dual. It seems to have been a defining factor for these recruits and it's definitely something to be proud of as a Hawk fan...but it's a sad state of affairs for wrestling as a whole.

Another incredible job of recruiting by Coach Brands and his staff. Really started to think we had lost out on Gilman. Brooks should definitely take care of our needs at 197lbs in the future! Can't wait for the season to get started!!
 


I don't think they are done yet either!!!! I honestly feel Gilman is the best lb per lb wrestler in the country!!!!! I had a chance to talk to him on Saturday and he seems to be a GREAT KID!!! Carton and Brooks are HUGE also. Carton plans on wreslting 133 this year and he does look a lot bigger. He has packed on some muscle and was riding the bike on Saturday. He was supporting a cast on his hand but doesn't plan to miss anytime according to his dad. Brooks is a GREAT pickup, I honestly didn't think there was anyway he would leave Illinois just goes to show what our fans do for us. I like our chances with Witte and Skon as well but only time will tell.
