Uh, no....read my posts from earlier when he first got hurt.
I said the same thing. Rest MG until the foot is 100% healed.
I cringed when FM said MG was "coming back for such and such game." Visions of Lute putting Ronnie back out there way too soon.

I'll defer my judgement to the people who the seriousness of his injury the best; namely the coaching staff and trainers.

Play Gesell as much as he can take and is effective, play May, play Woody, play Olaseni. Treat each game as a championship game, full out balls to the wall. Go as deep as you can, show The Committee they were wrong.

I would never leave that judgment to coaches. It is left to medical staff. However their jobs are dependent on the coach winning.
That said, this injury has a remote chance of being something like Ronnie Lester's injury in career limitations. Rewatching the Final 4 with Lester...couldn't believe how bad off he was.

He was limping off the floor at the end against Michigan State. Put Gesell on the shelf for the year. If this were the NCAA Tournament, I could see him gutting it out, but not the NIT. Get him healthy and dont risk any further damage.

That's what I was getting at with trainers - the medical staff. Fran doesn't seem like the type of coach would send a guy out there if there was significant risk of making an injury worse.
It's really a shame no medical advances have been made in 40 years.

Anonymous guy on a fan forum making medical judgements about a person he has never met who has a possible injury. Sounds reasonable.

My argument has nothing to do with medical advances. I'm talking about players being pressured to play before everything's healed up and sustaining a life-long injury.

It was pretty obvious that Gesell wasn't nearly as quick as he was prior to the injury. He played tough but he was in obvious pain.

He wasn't dragging his leg behind him, he was lumping a little bit. They won't injur him, he's in good hands and they will make the right call.

He had to ask Valentine to stop the damn game while he was dribbling the ball up the court after an MSU basket because he aggravated the injury on the defensive end. Do not risk further damage. Hawks played decent ball down the stretch without him in the lineup.
