Georgia coach

Pulled a Ferentz in that game

Now you might be thinking I'm picking on Kirk or what not but it just really really reminded me of something Kirk would do.

Good point, because no other coach in history has done that, so to immortalize Ferentz with that is right on...

I've watched who knows how many overtime games and never seen the team not even try to move the ball at all and kick a 45 yard field goal with a 60% kicker.

I can't think of one time. Sure I've seen teams play for a a field goal but not like that - that was over the top

Didn't see the game. What did he do? Chew gum, write notes on a scrap of paper, not crack a smile, said "that's football", had his QB take a knee with 1:50 remaining in the half....

What year did Ferentz do this?

msu missed fg in first overtime. Georgia ran one play for a yard gain. took a knee in the middle of the field and played for a 42 yd fg attempt for the win with a kicker who was 20-32 on the year. cost them the game.

We would not be in that position because of delay of game and false start penalties sandwiched between a time out. We would have 3rd and 25 and throw a 2 yard pass to Herman, White or someone else off the bench with few reps ala Minnesota.

Let's not forget the shovel pass late in the 4Q in 2005 against Michigan...that sin can not be forgiven. That play should also be forever enshrined in Ferentz's tainted legacy as a failure.

Richt did a classic over conservative thing - You can call it hate or whatever you want - whatever lens you prefer.

It just reminded me of something kirk would do and hence made me chuckle from the absurdity.

It was just a prime example of over conservative game management.

Wow, I'd be pretty mad if I was a Georgia fan.
