I don't think we'll ever know that as I would highly doubt Gatens would say anything about it.

Someone on another thread said he was considering leaving because Lick is fired. Go figure. Best to just sit tight and see who the new staff is.

I read on whotv.com that Keith Murphy reported that Barta met with the players BEFORE the Big 10 Tournament. I wonder if Barta got an earful?

Probably, but like mentioned earlier, we will most likely NEVER know the details of how it went down.

I can tell you that I don't see an AD making a financial/political decision such as removing a coach based on just one or two players' opinions.

I think an AD would if...he was told by key players they planned on transfering if a change was not made. Like you said though, we will never know what that was about. I'm just saying, based on our transfer history, if Barta was told more would leave...I think that kind of forces the issue.

I was saying literally ONE or TWO. You'd have to have more than just a couple of guys complain. I would guess it would have to be a vast majority.

In speaking to a second hand source, Gatens was not going to transfer. Was annoyed with the system, but is a Hawkeye first and foremost and would stick it out no matter.

I'm not so sure. I think if Gatens and another key player threatened to transfer...but it's a moot point now.
