Garza, Nunge, Connor McCaffery All Ranked in Rivals Final 150 for '17

The only way to balance the scholarships is to leave a couple on the table in 2019 and 2020. That or use one or two on transfers. in those years. Other than that, Iowa will have an imbalance.

Just my $.02 .. .. GO HAWKS!!!

Especially with the way players transfer all the time. It seems like big freshmen classes will always be the norm now.

I think we are starting to turn the corner a little in recruiting. I don't think it will be long before we start to actually get an occasional 1 and done talent player. I really think Wieskamp is looking like he has that kind of talent. Obviously there is a lot of time between now and then so we will just have to see, but I know from speaking with him, that his vision is to play and graduate from Iowa. Maybe he will push to graduate in 3 years. Iowa kids always seem to value the college degree more than kids from other states, but Fran is now starting to be able to get interest from the top players nationally. We were very close to landing Malik Williams this year and he is top 50. I know that we are still talking often with Hauser for 2018 and he is currently a top 50 consensus. I think Fran will nudge a birdie from the nest to make room for Hauser if he thinks he has a legitimate chance. We also still have good ties with Johns consensus top 75. I think he is the fallback if Cook leaves and we can't get Hauser. Exciting things are ahead and if we just keep winning on the court we will keep winning in the recruiting.

A lot of good statements in this thread. I agree Iowa hoops is on the rise and recruiting is looking good.

I think being able to score so many points this season with almost a hockey line change approach shows plenty of PT regardless of if you start or not. Cook is the key. If he progresses, then he is the door opener to higher quality kids seriously looking at Iowa. But our scholly's are pretty much spoken for through '19, with maybe 1 still available? Anyway, we are seeing a talent upgrade, I believe, where kids coming off the bench would have been "starting material" in past years. Keep it up Fran.

P.S. I also think Garza is going to have the potential to change Iowa hoops. Granted he still needs to get better with his footwork, coordination and strength, that will come. But he's a legit post scorer in the B1G who has real 3 point ability. And this kid is massive. If he can figure some things out early, and if Cook can develop his 15 jumper, that's two incredible mismatches for opponents. Time will tell, but I feel good. Oh, and JBo hitting 6 3's a game :)

Tyger might be enchanted with the sudden Missouri surge, actually feels Blessed to have received an offer from the Tigers. Somewhat fitting, Tyger playing for the Tigers. Just might be the factor that draws him in.....

Tyreke is much more of a valid prospect, if we can keep him away from the clones, Hurl Beechum and all. Beechum certainly fit the clone profile, before and after his stint in Ames.....

If the Tyger doesn't go to Missouri it would be difficult to lure him away from Michigan State and Indiana.....

The Hawkeyes are a Storm gathering on the horizon that will be difficult to stop

The balance of classes are due to (IMO) the mess that Lick left... and it's STILL balancing out. Plus, Fran needed to win right away when he got to Iowa. This fan base wasn't going to put up with it and he knew it... so he probably played guys he would have liked to take more time to develop and balance things out due to necessity. I think that problem will work its way out eventually but it takes A LOT of time and it's not Fran fault per say, but more of what he inherited.

Fran certainly ended his first season with a Bang at Carver, defeating Number Four Purdue.....

With the Caesar sitting behind the bench.....

With the attitude the Lads had last season and the incoming talent, we will certainly be a force to be reckoned with. Just having the size of Garza underneath the basket will be a huge bonus, not to mention his offensive ability, that soft hook from either side is difficult to stop when performed by a seven footer with a long wing span.....

And Nunge and Conner Will contribute, no doubt.....

Now it is just a matter of the long wait until November.....
