Gary Barta must resign

Enough is enough! How many lives does this embarrassing and incompetent AD have?
This is not the first time Barta has dramatically failed in a serious a situation where sound leadership should be expected. It's not the first time his judgement has come into question.
I don't know if the students should protest in support of the band members effected by this, or if the national sports media should be contacted or online petitions be created and signed by concerned students, fans and citizens.
Something needs to be done or this will just become another "Barta-blunder" that is swept under the rug by bureaucrats covering up for their fellow-bureaucrats.
The University President must show leadership and see that the U of Iowa parts ways from this pathetic excuse of an Athletic Director.

The only way this gets any traction is if the marching band goes activist — and pushback on Barta probably still needs a vocal “few” student protests as well

I would imagine there are bennies to be in the marching band at a university level so any kind of strike will have to outweigh the benefits.

I wouldn’t know what to do.

I’d be curious to know what a marching band member at level would think could be done, if they would want to do anything, what kind of bennies could be lost, etc.

But I’m with others; if Barta didn’t get flushed for losing $6.5m then he’s going nowhere because of a couple of days of bad press.

I said initially the press release looked to be an easy way for the athletic department to give the appearance of doing something (standing up for the band) without really doing anything.

The only reason Barta would be let go is because the higher ups made him a sacrificial lamb on this one. They laid the ground work for it b6 making him shelve the investigation, we just have to see how bad the backlash is.
