Gary Barta is the greatest!

Barta discriminated against a coach and cost his school 6.5 million. Either one of those would have cost most any other AD his job.

Some donor dropped about that amount right after settled. So think they basically picked up the tab for it.

He is a good athletic director that represents the University and the State of Iowa very well.

Hopefully that ever important and evasive Director's Cup will soon be within reach!

At a womens cross country meet at Nebraska, Iowa placed 3rd out of 12 teams. We had the first place finisher in Senior Andrea Shine.
Michigan won it and had their runners place 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9

Are there more than 10 field hockey, or rowing teams in the country?

Not sure the # (too lazy to google), but you definitely have to take national rankings with a grain of salt for some of these sports that not all schools support/offer (men's gymnastics and soccer definitely fall into this category as well). That said, there are always way more than 10, and being in the top 10 nationally in anything is pretty good.

I think field hockey just lost and will be dropping a bit. They are currently middle of the pack among the B1G schools that offer field hockey. B1G is pretty good at field hockey.

The climb in VB has been impressive, but it will continue to be tough. The B1G is an absolute meat-grinder in volleyball (often times makes up about half of the top 10).

Discuss. No one has said he should be fired in the last few weeks, so just lighting the match.
I haven't seen that he made another deal on a BAD contract has he? I haven't seen anything else on his poor people management that led to $6M payout for wrongful termination lately has he? There are many reasons non W-L in football specifically why he should've been fired. You don't seem to have any new information so this an entirely useless post and you should be banned by Rob for the weekend. He finally got rid of the softball coach for lack of wins.
