Garret Jansen flips from Cincinnati to Iowa

The reason UNI (and ISU...along with every other team that shouldn't) plays us tough is because kfootball wants to play a clock management game. kfootball is unwilling to even consider "trying" to put a team away in the 1st or 2nd quarter. kfootball wants to play it out over all 4 quarters and these lesser teams know that all they have to do is weather Iowa jumping out to a 2 score lead because kfootball will then stop trying to score and just manage the clock. That doesn't mean the other teams are more talented than Iowa (though that gap is closing and that, in itself, is a crime).
The gap is definitely closed.

I don't remember seeing this much hate over an in-state high school commit before.
I don't think it's specifically against this kid. It's just that Iowa HS football is not very good and Kirk's recruiting strategy has dwindled to settling for a bunch of kids from this bad HS football state.

Good recruits from leaving the state? Umm.. Where else would they play? Foundation for Iowa recruiting? My God, come back to reality. You think the state of Iowa is the foundation for Iowa recruiting? Well actually, that's the problem. We have too many Iowa kids in this class. The top rated recruits do leave the state, we get the ones with MAC offers, or no offers at all. Revisit this post in 3 years when these highly coveted building blocks for Iowa recruiting need to be making an impact on the field. It's going to be brutal to watch.
Nick's a troll. Just ignore him.

Why is it that some think that you must call people bad names just because they are positive? Why do you feel the need to be thought police? Just keep your thought control to your self. I will continue to be positive.

You're like the "special" kid that helps out at the grocery store. We've all got a soft spot for you.

In some ways I agree with Hawknick. There's a lot of negativity. What, do you all think we don't offer 4-star and 5-star recruits? We do. Check out the list of our offers on 247Sports. It's just that not all of the kids we offer are going to accept and it's for a variety of reasons, the least of which is the coaching staff. Academic programs, climate, geography, urban vs rural and campus visits are all factors. Yes, offensive and defensive philosophies are also a part of that. But are our philosophies that much different than other programs? As much as some would have us believe otherwise, our philosophies are not much different. It's the outcomes that are different.

You'd be really hard pressed to find a power 5 school that looked anywhere near as clueless and incompetent on offense as Iowa has the last 3 years. Football is supposed to be exciting and there is absolutely nothing exciting about KF or Iowa football. Other perennial crap teams who have always been crap are easily able to out recruit Iowa in nearly every offensive position save for lineman, which we are now pretty mediocre at. No athletic black offensive playmakers will EVER want to play for KF or this clueless bunch of throw aways that he's assembled. KF treats these young men like children, taking away things like Twitter for no other reason than he doesn't care for it. He does everything possible to put iowa at a disadvantage to it's competitors.

I just find your positivity to be way over the top and personally think it's become very weird.

It wasn't that long ago under KF where Iowa was on the list of offers to most all the Top Recruits, you don't see that anymore. IMO it has lots to do with KF style.

7 of our current 20 verbal commits are 2 star kids. That is 35%, folks. It will be 2017 or 2018 before these kids "should" play.

I've got it at 6 of 21. That's 28.5%. Might not have the numbers precisely right, though.

Sometimes, when these kids "should" play depends upon the circumstances along with their actual abilities...not just their perceived abilities based on star-rankings.

Wadley, Parker, Jewell, Niemann, VandeBerg are all 1st or 2nd year 2-stars who played and contributed. You can make an argument that they all "should" have had better players in front of them -- but some guys earn playing time despite their star rankings, no?
