Garmon still searching

I love how this board always rips all the players that leave and keep giving this staff a pass. In my experince in every confronatation there are 2 people culpable and it is never just 1. The % of blame may differ but it seems so many fans have their head buried in the sand.

I don't think we rip all players. I watched Garmon play. I don't think he was ever really going to play in this offense. Now whether or not this offense is good, that is a different story. And if you think ppl are giving the staff a pass, you aren't reading any posts around here.

Get your eyes examined. There are more negative coaching posts than there are dimples on a golf ball

And why must we always pull the coaching staff into all threads regarding transfers. I guess I don't understand why its even worth mentioning the coaches in a thread about a player transferring and then bringing up the fact that coaches get a "pass". I think the coaches get a "pass" in these threads, because the threads are about the players and have nothing to do with the coaches so they aren't mentioned. Just saying.

I honestly think the coaches brought garmon in expecting to give him 1 season at rb and he would see he is a better fit for db or wr. They were trying to do to him what they do to many good athletes convert them. Nate meier moved to defense when he realized he was better suited not being a rb. Garmon is one of the few that they weren't able to convince into changiing positions...whether because he really thinks he can be a rb or because he got playing time because of all the injuries.

This parting of ways is good for both parties anyway. I don't think coaches or garmon are to blame. Each has their vision and those visions don't mesh in this case. Seems pretty much like a mutual break up. We are prostyle and garmon would fit best in that offense used a lot like percy harvin is by the vikings. Otherwise he should be in a spread offense if he wants to be a rb.

Garmon has tremendous speed. He didn't fumble, and was probably our best receiver. Just didn't get to play much under offensive guru Kirk.

Might be seen as trolling but I honestly agree with you to an extent. I don't see him as our best receiver but I see him being an excellent slot guy in the right system, which I think might be where you were heading?

With how bad Iowa is trying to land a fast slot guy from juco and our current slate of rb's, I would bet Kirk talked to Garmon about moving to the slot, which is probably what led to Garmon wanting to transfer. He sees himself as a rb.

Eggggg Zaktly

Not an expert on potential but Garmon looked more like a MAC-caliber player ... He is not a runningback (at least at a big boy school) ... Maybe a team can use him in another capacity ... He could probably be a decent rb in the MAC ...

He couldn't pound it between tackles. He needs space to create. To bad KF & company couldn't have made it work.

So you're saying all the other big boy schools that recruited him as a safety were right.

Garmon is meant for power blocking, usually faster backs are power blocking big backs r zone. Not always, but ala darren mc fadden sucked this year in a zone scheme (year b4 was power). And shonne green doesnt look half as good in new yorks power scheme.
