Games that worry me the most

or games I think we have a 50/50 shot at losing.

1. OSU- This is a given with their talent
2. Arizona- This team is going to be good, and have a good offense. Last time we travelled to Arizona to play a good ASU team we got trounced. I don't like the travel, and the heat of September.
3. Wisconsin- They are going to be good people. Don't dismiss it. Their offense lost 1 player, and they were good last year. They ran all over Iowa until Clay got injured. Don't dismiss Wisky. They have a year more experience and are going to be good
4. NW- We are their Penn State
T5. Michigan (It's the Big house and a spread team) PSU- (They will have talent as always) MSU- (We almost lost to them last year) ISU (it's ISU)

Okay, so Iowa has a 50/50 shot at losing 8 of their games? So, basically you are saying Iowa is a lock against Minny, EIC, Indiana, and Ball State.

Wow, really went out there on a limb, didn't ya?

I honestly think every game is 50/50 everyday. I put them in an ordered list of toughest. I think that Arizona and Wisky are the toughest. The ones I have T5, are games we should win, but could go either way. And yeah, I don't think we are a lock for as many games as everyone else. We could've been a 7-5 or 6-6 team last year. Our defense is the same, but our O-line is a question mark. So yeah, lots of games up in the air in my opinion.

I do think OSU is the toughest, but I think everyone thinks that. I was going by what most people would disagree with.

tOSU and MSU

They are the most physical teams that we'll face. Furthermore, different elements of their respective Os are capable of giving our D the most fits too.

The score was 3-0 when Clay got hurt. I wouldn't consider that "ran all over". Also Clay came back in but was ineffective, because Iowa made adjustments. Iowa also had a lot of people battling the flu that game. They came out flat, but after about a quarter and a half, they controlled the game.

I'm sure I've seen more hard hitting games than last years Iowa/MSU but I can't say what those games were. That game was absolutely brutal. 60 minutes of hell.

Folks should go back and read Clauss's old Monday Morning QB article after the game. He spelled it out pretty clearly WHY the Badgers were able to initially move the ball on us.

For those who paid attention, Monte Ball ran the ball effectively against us too until Iowa adjusted their reads to account for what the Badgers were doing.

This is something the Iowa staff excels at.

After last season, every game scares me! I made a new years resolution to not be negative during the game and pick apart every play, we'll see how long that holds up:)

I think OSU is our nemesis and we just can't afford a let down before that. We are a fairly deep team which will help us out but Kirk is probably reminding the boys about the Nwesterns who want to knock us off our little perch here in Hawkland. Reality is we play a bunch of teams that match up with us. I do believe we can outplay / coach most of them barring bad luck, injuries and officiating. Hold on to your chairs, going to be an interesting season!!

I hear ya. But, one thing I have learned is with great coaches you just have to let them play the game out. It really is the difference between a good coach and a great coach in my book. Some guys just have that thing where they have a handle on their team and even when all things look lost, they are able to keep the team focused and eventually the game plan starts to work.

But, it sure is hard to be patient as a fan.

I'm not worried about OSU at all. We shouldn't be. Given our history with them, they aren't going to sneak up on us. They will likely be favored. That's a game where we don't have much to lose (at least not the same way we do against Northwestern).

Northwestern worries me because they've had our number and it's in Evanston. Arizona is a game I'm feeling more confident about than I was earlier this summer (I don't think the heat is going to be a big factor there, given the heat the team faced this past month, where it felt like 90+ degrees at 4 in the morning). Michigan doesn't worry me so much now. If Robinson gets the keys, they could move the ball on us fairly consistently, but their defense was going to be bad anyway, and then they lost Woolfolk, their best defender.

Northwestern and Michigan State are the ones that truly worry me this year. Iowa State could give us a ball game if Arnaud shows up wearing CARDINAL and gold this year, rather than BLACK and gold.

Clay wasn't effective after he came back because the Hawks had made adjustments, but he also ran pretty timidly after he got stood up by Angerer. That hit shook him up pretty good.

His heel touching his helmet probably had something to do with that as much as Angerer did. It was amazing that he came back after that.

1) @Arizona ... only game on our schedule that we should not be favored, IMO
2) Ohio State ... freakish talent, great coaching, and they own us
3) Wisconsin ... Clay killed us in the first half last year, bruising game

4) @Michigan ... I know they are down, but they still have talent
5) Michigan State ... hard-hitting and talented if they can put it together
6) Penn State ... their young players will have been tested by this point
7) @Northwestern ... they have our number, but we'll be no-nonsense
8) @Indiana ... they will score on us, offense needs to show up
9) Iowa State ... worried about the funky/querky nature of this game

10) Ball State ... sandwich game, no sleeping on BSU, they aren't bad
11) Eastern Illinois ... first game jitters is my only worry
12) @Minnesota ... no concerns whatsoever

I don't think it matters what color Arnaud is wearing, ISU is going to have a tough time finding a way to move the ball consistently.

Yes he did. had like 70+ yards in the first half before the injury, and obviously wasn't the same after that. Didn't say he ran them all for TDs. I know Iowa made adjustments, but Clay is a beast, if he didn't get injured game could've been a lot different. Not saying Iowa loses, but they easily could've
