Game Thread: Hawkeyes vs the Alcorn State Braves

Three observations at this point in the season.
#1 I had high expectations for Trigga Trey Dickerson. It ain't happenin'. Take a seat.
#2 JO can't shoot. He never could. He never will. Take a seat.
#3 SOB I love watching Gabe play. He is awesome!

I wish we would just stop shooting 3s. The big problem I have with it is that they are not bad shooters. They step in to 15 feet and they make a lot of them. When they step away for the extra point it is nothing but bricks. If we would pass up some of these 3s in favor of a pump fake, one dribble and midrange jumper, maybe we wouldn't find it so hard to score sometimes.

Something needs to be done. Faking a three, dribbling into the middle and shooting might give them some rhythm. We must improve our three % or this could be a serious problem in the Big Ten.....

Nope. Fran says he is. He says this is a good shooting team. Stop me if you've heard this from Fran the last three years, "We didn't shoot the ball well tonight."

Then you'll hear him say this more often than the Lord's Prayer at a Mass:

"Josh is my shooter,
keep shooting is what I want

He makes me look like I lie, because well, his misses don't get past your eyes.
I shake my head at the scorers' table for there is no presence of a defender (the dude is wide open!)

In the many games I have attended over the last few years, Oglesby rarely misses during the pregame warmup and halftime warmup, whistle blows and he can't buy a bucket.

the whole team needs something to get their confidence going. Hopefully it doesn't get progessively worse like last year.

Just my opinion but at 3-20 I think the 3 pt struggles far exceed JO.

And in support of HawkeyeHypnosis I watched shoot around last night and they were all shooting relatively well (given its nothing more than a shoot around).

I picked a bad night to attend my first game of the season.
