Game Story, Videos, Photos, Box Score: Iowa Rolls Delaware St.

I'd love to see less of these kinds of opponents. The only good thing that comes out of games like this is it gives the bench some minutes.

Indiana played this team on Monday night. Most Power 5s have some of these games on the schedule. We actually had fewer than in past years. Delaware State and Savannah State were awful but we also played some decent teams from low to mid majors.

I'd say we played more cupcakes this year than we did last year. I count 5 from last year, excluding Drake since that is an in state rivalry game. I count 7 this year and we lost 1 of them.

The team we played last night beat St. John's, which won at Syracuse. It's an exact science putting together a non-conference schedule.

Power 5 schools mix tough games with easy ones to varying degrees. With Virginia, Memphis, Seton Hall, Iowa State and UNI on a slate for a team starting three freshmen, I think it was a solid schedule. Omaha (92 RPI) and North Dakota weren't lousy teams.

The thing that sucks is that our "cupcakes" must be really bad. They posted a SOS graphic during the game last night. Minny is currently top 40 in SOS and we are outside of the top 150 as of today.

Minny has played one team so far that will be in the tournament. (FSU). The other teams they've played with a pulse are Ark, Van (they are really bad this year), St Johns (also bad - lost to team we played last night).

We've played at least 4 teams that will most likely make the tourney and maybe a 5th if Memphis makes it. That doesn't include UNI.

Tell me how that adds up.

So as of now, Omaha isn't even considered a bad loss. Lol at the RPI.
