Game Pics: IA vs Indiana

Thanks Jon! I really wish a couple of others would have turned out from the May Day Dunkfest but unfortunately they got blown out from the overhead flashes that must have fired at nearly the same time :(

Is that the dunk that May missed in the first half? He looks like he's losing the ball there a little bit. The first one in the 2nd half was the massive two handed flush and the 2nd one I don't remember him losing control of the ball at all. Just curious...

hawkfan - you are correct. The shot above was the missed runout while the dunks in the second half came with May facing away from me or a couple of them were blown out by another photographer's flash. You can see what I did get before the exposure issues in the gallery linked above.

Just curious... are you sitting in the stands when you take these pictures? You seem to have every action shot possible, so how many pictures a game do you end up taking?

Enjoy looking at them.

Clem sits courtside or wherever he really wants.

As always, nice pics!

I have a great time trying to capture at least some of the action from behind the camera to share with everyone here on HawkeyeNation along with several of the players via Facebook. Many thanks go to Jon as my photos would not be possible without his help. Now that I am into my second season of covering the Hawks, I do have a fair amount of freedom in terms of where I shoot from as Spank mentioned above so long as I don't get in the way of TV or other media outlets such as BTN or AP Press. I also make sure to not get in the way of the spirit squad or block the view of fans behind me for any length of time.

As for the number of images I shoot per game, it varies from sport to sport but for basketball I will have roughly 125-150 shots to sort through once I get them imported into my computer before I filter out stuff that is perhaps a duplicate or too blurry.

Feel free to share any cheerleader shots. Seriously, I want to see proper technique. This is important. Spirit squad maybe? Throw me a bone man.
