Game Pics - Exhibition Game vs Illinois Springfield

Finally, the BBall season has begun and that means it's time to see how well I can catch the new up-tempo action from behind the lens.

Here's game one: 20101107 - Iowa Mens Basketball vs Illinois Springfield

I like the fact that the coaches all had the same look going, too. very sharp. not sure it will continue, but every little thing to wipe away the stain of the past few years is appreciated. photo 32. they do need new unis, though. maybe they're waiting for the start of the real season.

I'll be the first to admit that the speed of play caught me off-guard on more than one occasion as I usually had a good 15-30 seconds between shots last season to chimp and do a bit of in-game post-editing so there were several that could have been better so I too was glad to have made the exhibition game and knock a bit of rust off.

Here's to a very different season filled with steals, run-outs, and more breakaway dunks instead of hoping for the occasional blocked shot as my "keeper" for the game (not that I won't be trying to catch those as well).

Getting artsy on some of those shots. Nicely done!

I'm far from what most would consider "creative" but I have started to spend a bit more time in Photoshop to see if I can eventually end up with my very own "Hawk's Nest" complete with various photos that span however long I am able to cover games. Here are thumbs of the 11x14 prints I framed from last season to get my fitness room started.

Great job PhotoHawk! Loved the pics, do you plan on doing this for all the home games, some of them, or was this a one shot deal?

I intend to be at all of the home games barring any unforeseen work, weather or family type emergencies and I expect to have similar galleries posted after each of them although I may trim down the number of shots to 20-30 and be a bit more selective on what to upload.

Would you prefer the smaller galleries of 20-30 pics available within say a few hours of the game or larger ones similiar to the exhibition game that may take a bit longer for me to have available (especially the later tip-offs which I had to finish in the morning a once or twice last year)?

I'm open to suggestions.

I'm going to be trying to get some shots of my own this winter when I can. I have to borrow my mom's camera (I've been using it for football lately and had pretty good results), so I won't have it for the whole season unfortunately.
