Gabe's game improvement - nice turnaround jumper - but needs to attack the rim

His range has improved every year, as I said in the game thread last night, I think he's going to hit a few 3's next year.

I would love to see him shoot some threes next year and make them early in the season so players cant and wont sag off him.

He does have a nice smooth stroke.

As much as I like Gabe, Woodbury is still the better player.

When both are out of the game, no good comes from it typically. The ball movement slows down, Adam can pass really well, but the ball is like a hot potato for Gabe if he doesn't like his position on the floor, not a bad thing it means he has court awareness for himself.

What it tells me for next year is that unless there is some major foul trouble, Iowa won't be going small much, unless Fran chooses too. Iowa is close to imposing their will on teams.

True, but Woody fouls more, and, Gabe is faster/stronger and just plain more athletic. Woody really needs some muscle and to develop his offense.

You can't teach 7' 1", but you also can't teach 6' 11" (and one who can run like a gazelle and jump like a flea in a hot skillet)

I base my opinion on this year's development. *If* it should continue at present course, Gabe will be starting...hands down.

Put another 15-20 pounds on Woody and he's a different player. He then holds position on D and offensive position that allows his shots go down= fouls go down, pts go up. But in a lot of ways, this isn't a competition. As much potential as both of these guys have, if both of them are good enough to start, they will.

Meyer is also a good 3 pt shooter and a lot bigger than McCabe. Fran is going to have even more options next year and the foreign trip is really going to help this team gel early, imo. The better Woody and Gabe get, the better Iowa is going to be.

If Woodbury makes the same improvement from his fr to soph year as Gabe did, we will be very tough to beat.
