Newest Iowa commitment talks with HN about decision to join Swarm '19:

Awesome commitment. It's great to keep getting some southern kids. As for Goodson, the kid is an excellent looking athlete who appears to be more physically matured then your average recruit. I'm looking forward to see what the kid can do here.

Awesome get! Welcome aboard Tyler! This class really seems to be a head above past classes.

I’m hopeful for this kid. He looks awesome, truly. Seems like a solid young man as well. And at Iowa, we all know Captain Kirk will take 1 character over 2 athletic ability on the grading scale charts of importance.

Recruits talk about playing time, facility, and coaches when committing. Rarely do you hear talk about the wave or the childern's hospital. It is nice to hear about a recruit talking about how these factored into his decision. I hope to hear more recruits talk about how the wave played a role in their decision to come to Iowa. Let's use this as a recruiting tool.

So the whole deal with telling Brock his scholly wasn't available anymore makes more sense... If Iowa didn't get Sargent they'd have still went after Brock but Goodson compliments Sargent and Geils styles better than Brock. I'm sure Brock will be good too we just can't take them all. I really really like this Goodson kid his change of direction and acceleration have me surprised he's 'only' a 3 star

Yeah, I have a feeling he is going to be hard to keep off the field. Especially if as he says, he has no problem just keeping his head down, taking classes and football seriously and working for it as he says he does.
Couple this with a rather good looking commits in other areas and we could have something special brewing.
I would love to see a monster dt and one if not two wr who could come in and challenge right away.
That would round it out nicely.

He’s a thoughtful kid with mature view of life. I’ve enjoyed getting to know him through interviews and think he’s a good fit for this program and culture.

Little reading. From an older article.
"
Goodson shows incredible running instincts. He has a natural feel to know when to make a cut has an assortment of jukes to get of tough situations. He also looks to have excellent football speed. This offseason he has been hard at work improving his craft. Last season was a strong start for the North Gwinnett running back as he is just beginning to fill out his frame. The junior has an explosive first step and will absolutely be a camp invite guy this summer. We expect big things in fall ’17 as North Gwinnett will look to be one of the more dynamic offenses in the state of Georgia. Goodson made Tom Lemming’s Top Prospect list in the state of Georgia. He is a solid pass catcher out of the backfield, showing reliable hands from what we saw at the Corky Kell 7v7.

Goodson he has been playing like a man possessed, and put together one of the best performances in the state playoffs. Against Marietta and Grayson he ran for 447 yards total and making clutch plays in the process. Waiting to hear his latest 40 time later this offseason, but colleges are extremely impressed with his top end speed and versatility he shows as a receiver coming out of the backfield. Tyler Goodson is proving all scouts that he is a no doubt FBS running back this season, and expect to see more schools offering in the coming months."

i like his balance and vision. all purpose back who can come compete right away.

HIs offer list jumps out at you as well. 34 offers with notables like Nebraska, Michigan St., West Virginia, BC, Colorado and even Washington St.

we needed a more durable AW. this could could be that. the key word is durable. AW had to have his carries limited due to his size.

I'd say that's partially true. He was limited as well based on other RBs on roster and coaching decisions. It wasn't just so much that AW couldn't take an 80% snap work load as it was others deserved their fair share as well be it Canzeri or Daniels. It benefited them all and the team I thought that they did that and seem to be continuing it. I think the Sedrick Shaw and Shon Greene days of workhorse RB loads are over regardless of the RBs abilities. So long as they have the capable bodies it's how they'll try to do it.

I didn't really ever think Wadley had durability issues. I mean yeah you need to spell anyone a little and you don't want to get the snot beat out of them.
The problem was up until the last part of his career, he didn't weigh as much as most back field defenders, so he really wasn't a lower your shoulder and power through type back most of his career.
I'm not saying to always run like that, but when that one extra yard from 11 to 12 or 18 to 19 is going to make a huge difference, you have to be able to.
That's what Goodson does. A year in, I bet he's 200-205. When lowering the shoulder for one extra yard, big difference from 180-185 and 200-205.

Goodson is a soon to be HS senior already with the body of AW as a college senior. Learn to block Goodson and the world is yours.
