Returning Skutt Champ All About Team - Omaha News Story - KETV Omaha

From article:

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Nebraska State Wrestling Tournament started way back in 1928, but only 16 wrestlers have won four straight state titles. Three competitors have chance of breaking into that elite group this weekend.

Thomas Gilman of Omaha Skutt is also competing on Friday in the semis. The future Iowa Hawkeye is 44-1 on the year, but his primary goal is to help Skutt reclaim the state title.

"Last year I won, but the team didn't win and it felt like I lost," Gilman said. "If I win and the team doesn't win, I don't even want to say it's bittersweet, because it's not. It's bitter."

Hands down my favorite recruit!! Love this kid and you will to. After a redshirt year under McDonough and Ramos look for him to be a VERY special young man!! Between his worth ethic and talent he is going to be special guys!!!

Who do you guys predict takes McDonough's spot at 125 after he graduates? Clark or Gilman? Gilman definitely has the edge on their feet at this point but Clark is really tough on the mat. We should be in great shape whoever wins that battle!

i would say gillman just because he's so physical. much more than Clark. i think its gonna take cory sometime to learn handfighting where gillman will be ready day 1as far as that goes.

That's exactly how I see it as well. Clark is tough for sure but I think an extra year would help him, especially in developing his set ups from neutral. That being said, you never know how quick guys are going to develop once they get in the room and Cory could very well improve at light speed, similar to what McDonough did, and take the spot. It's great to have 125 and 133 locked down with such talented prospects for the distant future.
