The parallels are pretty remarkable.
Roughly, at this point in time last year, Iowa had:
- 9 recruits
- 1 four-star guy, 7 three-star guys, and 1 two-star guy
- the aforementioned 9 recruits hailed from 6 different states
- big "need"-areas in recruiting had already been hit pretty hard with nice success (particularly at LB and DL)
- the lone 4-star recruit was an OL-recruit
Now, when you look at the current 2011 class ....
- 10 recruits
- 1 four-star guy, 8 three-star guys, and 1 two-star guy (using scout ratings to fill the gaps)
- the 10 recruits hail from 8 different states
- big "need"-areas in recruiting had already been hit pretty hard with nice success (particularly at WR and TE)
- the lone 4-star recruit was an OL-recruit
