Fun Weekend in Calgary

We just got back from Calgary last night. I had seen Drew Tate a couple of times this spring in Houston once at a Iowa club gathering and once at an Iowa alumni event at a hotel. He and I talked and I said I was probably going to one of the Stampeder games. Although he said he would get me tickets I elected to buy them(they were $43 each) as I wanted to sit up at the top not where the player tickets are as I needed three and my better half wanted to sit in the shade.

So we went Friday to Banff and Lake Louise for the scenery(satisfy better half). Went to a Stampeder discussion board gathering in a restaurant across the street and to their tailgate in the parking lot.

Although Drew doesn't start he plays in certain situations. Of course every time the starter screws up the fans call for Drew to go in. He had one rushing touchdown.

Overall was a good time. The atmosphere was more similar to an American college game than a pro game. But the beer is good.

Calgary is a great town. I also just got back from there a week and half ago, I attended my 7th Stampede. i usually spend time at the Cowboys tent, the many restaurants and bars downtown and really like the Kensington area just NW of the city across the Bow River.

And the Stamps are my favorite CFL team. Next season, the Stampede will not interfere with 4th of July and i believe the Stamps will be playing a home game during the Stampede.

It should be a great time.
