Friday night games coming to the B1G

Any chance these games could be played in high school stadiums as well. Wouldn't want to too fans in attendance, since we don't want games played in larger stadiums.

We have missed very few home games in the years we were living in Iowa since 1992, but if you start having Friday home games, and I and many others will reconsider renewing season tickets.

As of now, Iowa would only host the Friday of Labor Day weekend. Will they go on the road? That I don't know.

I believe the B10 asked each school prior to agreeing to it. If enough schools do not agree to it then they would not do it.

If only on Labor Day Friday, I'm good with it. it'll be a OOC game and people can make a 4 day weekend. no other Friday...ever. and make it a 7pm game.

AS long as it's not NDSU...cause that sucks.

Wyoming or Northern Illinois on the Friday of labor day weekend. A chance to start the forum meltdown a day early. Why not.

This could be the dumbest thing I have seen the BT do in a long time. Then, to allow schools like OSU, MI, PSU, etc. to sort of opt out smacks of extreme bias. At least Iowa said only on Labor Day weekend. A Friday game any other time of the year, with the possible exception of Nebraska, would be an insult to the Iowa fan base. Eventually, we will bury ourselves as a conference with our obsession with the almighty dollar. And, no, I am not naive about the need to do what is reasonable to expand our revenue.

I won't be attending any Iowa football games played on a Friday night

DItto - Of our 25-30 group - we tailgate / discuss / unwind / enjoy Saturday as we re-hash the HS game the night before. All of us coach, run a scoreboard, chain gang, etc. As a 20+ yr season ticket holder - i want a season ticket option w/out a Friday night game. I think Iowa Athletics would be surprised how many ticket holders would pass on that 1st game v. HS Friday night

also, what about tailgating on a Friday?!?! The lots will be full all day for U of I employees who need to park in the lots for work. Plus, it's not fair to those who have to work on Friday's. It's bad enough that we have to deal with this BS for the Nebraska game each year.

I guess Fridays are okay if the school is in a big urban area like Columbus. But Iowa City? The parking is going to be a disaster. I live in Houston and go to UH games. Being a commuter school there are a lot of night gclasses. Every time there is a Thursday or Friday game there have to be all these special parking arrangements with people parking at Texas Southern University and riding shuttle buses. With people coming from work the stadium is never full at kickoff. All to accomodate TV. But hey its the American. The B10 should not have to stoop to this level.

I think Iowa high schools start their football seasons the Friday before Labor Day so this would go up against that. Not real smart for having recruits visit.

This makes it palatable. I won't lose too much sleep over missing one OOC game. There are certainly worse things than freeing up a 3 day weekend. It would be awesome if someone organizes some kind of don't attend Friday night games protest although that may not be necessary. Iowa may get an even better idea of how much the game day experience means to fans vs just the game.

the only positive I see for an Iowa Friday night game on Labor Day weekend is that it's so hot and humid that time of year. At least fans won't be baking to death under the sun.
