Fran's radio show with Dolph

I appreciated the tidbits from the OP. Nothing earth shattering, but just interesting to hear about.

tangent aside, i also really like Fran. he let's fans "behind the curtain" just enough so that they feel like he's being real with them. yes, he does BS a lot, but he also understands how to involve the fanbase. i'm not going to use this as an opportunity to bash KF's style with the media, but i will say that i prefer Fran's approach a lot more.

I've been critical of KF many times, but I want to add to your post to say it's probably tougher job for KF to handle the media/fans than it is for FM. Football has a bigger fishbowl, and there are less actual games for the media/fans to talk about. Therefore we there's more danger for KF to say something that will be blown out of proportion and flap in the wind until the next game.

Not that this disagrees with anything you wrote.

I also happened to catch most of the Fran Show last nite. He is clearly the best communicator that Iowa has ever had as a BB coach, maybe all coaches. He does not lapse into coaching-cliché-land ...ever. He always has a fresh way to answer questions.

Even the questions were decent last nite. He was even asked point blank about losing Ulis...the questioner said he read how Ulis said that telling Fran no was the toughest thing he had done....and Fran gave a perfect response.

Paraphrasing '' When you recruit someone as long and hard as we did with Tyler, you get to know his family as well as him very well. He comes from a great family and his mom and dad were very good people. The deal with recruiting is that he could only choose one school, and that is a tough decision for young men like Tyler. He had 36 pts in a game last weekend, I believe. We certainly hope Tyler has a great career at the school of his choice. ''

Fran knows the score...never burn bridges.

Why the rip on this???? I think everyone knew what was implied here. There was no need to be a jerk!
As a poster who's incurred ankle23's and HawkIPA's wrath before (in very much the same demeaning way), I assume drummer has incurred ankle23's and hawkIPA's wrath by posting something probably not even in this thread. You know, most posters just read and debate if they disagree. Ankle23 and hawkIPA, for example, have to try to demean.

I have a hard time I have been demeaning to you, but if you can dig up the post more power to you.

Is it your homophobia that they rip on you for, or for other things too?

I love how this evolved into a discussion about Kirk Ferentz and what posters are tools.

I blame Woodbury for never winning a jump ball.

Kind of reminds of Bo Ryan when he loses a guy...
