Fran's Post Game Interview

I'm not going to say some chewing isn't deserved but we may be seeing that fine line where some guys start playing afraid or go into a shell. This team misses Cole's intangibles more than most folks care to admit.

The good thing about Fran is that even when he is chewing, he manages to teach as well. I am thinking that we may see some starters benched just the same.

To whom? That's the problem there is nothing there as you look up and down his bench. If these starters don't get better, it will be a long, long year-for that matter it already has been.

Why? They don't act like they care on the court...why would it matter to them that they are getting chewed?

Because the choice will ultimately be start caring or forget about seeing the court.

Personally, I'd prefer to see a more talented player with an attitude problem riding the pine in favor of a less talented player who will play his heart out. Especially this early in Fran's tenure. It's about setting expectations and ensuring that everyone will live up to them or else. I'd take fewer wins this season if it meant the team having the right attitude and effort in the future.

That's the point. Once you start making it clear that it doesn't matter how lazy/uninspired a guy plays, if they're the most talented option then they won't lose their starting spot, then you're dead in the water.

He needs to make examples out of guys, and Basabe is at the top of the list. I don't care if we play Cody Cox in Basabe's place. Mel needs to figure out that he needs to give 110%, or he won't play, even if the team is worse off for it in the W/L column.

Not sure if it was mentioned but Basabe, Archie and I believe even May did not start the second.

Second Half starters as I recall: Cartwright, Gatens, Marble, McCabe, White

I agree, send a message.
