Poor defensive game plan. Playing anything but in your face man to man in this game is criminal. Nova loves soft man and zone.

Fran got bailed out by great shooting in the Battle 4 Atlantis first half, but was flat outcoached by Wright bince then.

We're this many years in, and we still have no clue whether he's a good coach/recruiter or not. I don't even know what's left to say.

A walk-on nearly outscored 3 starting seniors, again. Aside from Fran's coaching, he needs to shake up the players/scholarships. Send Ellingson & Uhl packing. Have Connor walk on. Give Baer a scholly and bring in some real talent. Might have some recruiting violations in order to accomplish this but ya gotta do whatcha gotta do.

This many years in and you're still wondering whether he can cut it then you already have your answer -- no.

He needs to go. Sadly, Golfing Gary will probably extend him.

At one time I was ready to give him enough time until his kids became Hawkeyes. I am beginning to fear Lil Lick - Part Deaux.

Fran has essentially gotten Iowa basketball back to the Tom Davis level. It's nothing flashy, playing in the NCAA tournament more times than not, not ever going to win a BIG regular season title, etc. I guess you can either embrace the mediocre or roll the dice with a potential Alfraud redux.

When you're a 5th year coach, and your team's top performer is a Freshman walk-on... something isn't right. (how's that for an understatement)

I think Uhl has potential, the question is (and one of the bigger questions) is anything being done to help him develop? For a bench of tenured assistants, we haven't seen much development in players that have been here 2+ years

Fran does not need to go, Iowa lacked any real basketball players other than Gatens when he took over.
The program was horrendous when he took it over, if ya want horrendous back, fine.
I think if you believe he needs to go or isn't a good coach, you don't understand the game.
Iowa had so many holes when he got to Iowa he has tried to fill them and some players didn't work out, Meyer/Ingram in this class.
He hasn't had a balanced roster yet, gradewise, but it is what it is.
I like where the program is and hope Fran stays more than a few more years.

Fran is a great mid major level coach, who is able to get good mid major level players. Neither he nor his players are able to withstand the rigors of playing top flight teams week in and week out.

This is Iowa basketball under Fan McCaffery. Stretches of play where it looks like they can beat everyone....and stretches where it doesn't look like they can beat anyone. No true point guard, and players who are not mentally tough when things go bad. Able to get into the NCAA tournament, but not able to get past the second round.

I am not calling for Fran to be fired....but I have resigned myself to the realization that Iowa basketball is what it is...and unlikely to be anything more under Fran.

Disappointing to be sure..but still better than being an Iowa State fan.

Legendary Nova coach Rollie Massimino and his coke dealer couldn't get much more out of this Iowa team today. When your senior leaders are unwilling to match the intensity of the opposition then what's a coach to do? This is not football. They had a day to plan.

What sucks is there is no dominant team this year. In January, I actually had something that is very dangerous for an Iowa fan - hope. Thank goodness they squashed that by late February, but it does suck when you get a year like this where a non-blue blood has a shot and then we gag.

Heres what you say. He has taken Iowa to 3 straight NCAA tournaments and won first round games the last two years. He has coached academic all Americans, basketball all Americans and multiple players who have gone on t o play professionally. . the program is light years ahead of where it was when he took over over. There you go, that's what you say.

Well thank goodness for that. I guess we can shut down the board because there isn't anything left that we're allowed to say. You've voting for Trump, aren't you?

I am somewhere in the middle there is enough meat on the bone to let FM continue....10 years in we will probably have our answer.

Give me a break, Gatens could not have played for another Big 10 team, he was only on the floor because Lick had no one else. He would score points against nobodies, but was shut down when guarded by anyone with an ounce of athleticism.
