Fran will be SUSPENDED One Game

Let's be clear.

Ryan, Matta or Izzo have never exploded like McCaffery did. They never touched an official or got close enough that an official could touch them. Fran did.

The suspension is the right call, and going after the third official is probably what cemented it more than the second T.

There was an even better one of Izzo being restrained on google, but of course for whatever reason it would link.

Bet Ryan or Izzo wouldn't have been suspended.

Two things: 1. They will have to be now, as a precedent has been set. But they won't.
2. As an Eff You to the Big Ten, Speraw ought to get kicked out of the NW game.

I'd like to hope Fran learns his lesson from this. Perhaps he himself needs to give stronger instructions to his assistants to absolutely keep him from going where he must not go. In any case, I trust an episode of this magnitude is not repeated - not this season, not ever.

But my main ire is still directed at the ridiculously soft play by our team when the "T's" occurred. And apparently Roy Devyn Marble has admitted as much. I'd like to see the whole team publicly do the same.

Fran's first game back is against Ohio State in Columbus. A perfect opportunity to see if we are finally going to move our play for a full 40 minutes to where it needs to be. While I have hope, my motto remains, "Don't tell me, show me!"

Best I can tell in all 3 of those pics.... all coaches are in their coaching box and not at half court.

And? Springsteen said that all three of those coaches have never blown up at officials, and were never close enough for either party to initiate contact.

Gotcha.... I should have read the thread more closely.

What Springsteen should have aid is that none of those coaches have went as far as Fran did and that was to leave the coaching box and make contact with an official.

This is directly in line with how they handled the Pelini suspension after he did not show "civility toward all, and respect, particularly toward opponents and officials."

The only lesson Fran should learn from this is to flop when a ref delivers an aggressive elbow to your sternum.

If Fran had gone down like Brust defending a dribble-drive, he wouldn't have been suspended, Iowa would have won the game, the ref would have been fired, and Delaney would be issuing an apology to him.

Lesson learned.

In fairness...Fran left the coaching box during a dead ball TV timeout. Every coach in America leaves the coaching box during a dead ball timeout so this isn't really a fair argument IMO. The 2nd T probably doesn't ever happen if this is during live action.

Edit - Just want to make sure we are comparing apples to apples not looking to start anything...

It would have been a dead ball situation as soon as the first T was blown so...

And, as been noted, this isn't true either.

The suspension is for a glorified practice. Whatever! He will be back for Ohio State Sunday. Did anyone happen to hear what kind of reprimand/suspension the official got for making contact with a head coach?

Anyone with a sense of decency would think the would be suspended and fined for overstipping their boundaries and making terrible calls favoring the opponent while setting Fran up with The Bump.....

Best I can tell in all 3 of those pics.... all coaches are in their coaching box and not at half court.

All three coaches spend a significant amount of time on the floor while the game is being played.....

They just don't have the brass to man up like our coach.....

Lute was a lot like Fran.....

He didn't like being cheated and would defend his team when they were being picked apart by unscrupulous referees.....

I dont know. I think for that one, they would have. They both whine and curse relentlessly at the officials, but they dont leave the bench and take off after an official on the opposite end of the floor. At least they did it now with Northwestern coming up at home.

They wouldn't have gotten the first T and definitely not the second based on the replay... So they would never be put in the situation to explode... Fran will get there, and if you believe it or not, this will help his cause with the officials. I have seen in in all sports, if you show you will point out discrepancies and you start winning we may have other fans saying this would never happen to matta, izzo, ryan or FRAN.

Dumb post.

The only dumb part of that post is about staying on the bench. It is correct that all coaches have to realize that unless you're going to shake their hand, you don't put yourself in position to touch an official, accidental or otherwise.
