Fran vs. the "T"

I have not seen it out there, and by no means is it what lost the game, but it’s clear Fran is a marked man. I still do not know how Izzo is able to go to half court and grab the refs arm and not get a T in that game. To be honest I fully blame Barta and I hope that he is addressing this issue with the B1G.

The argument on fair and unfair called games is long and old. In fact I think many games simply coming down to not making big plays. There are only a handful of games over the past years I would really blame on poor officiating. There is the bowl game against Florida, the MSU game from last year, and the UNI game a few years back come to mind.

What I am concerned with happening is that Fran will not be able to say anything. Basically fight for his team when the calls do get a little loped sided.

Do you think the school is addressing the fairness of our coach being T’ed up and other coaches getting away with it.

Do you think Fran needs to chill out even more?

Do you think this could develop into a huge issue?
 
Watch what Izzo and Ryan do when they argue with officials. Fran doesn't do it that way, and that's what gets him in trouble. He blows his top, Mt. Vesuvius-style. Izzo and Ryan are almost begging officials half the time.
 
Bilas even said it during the game when Izzo came on to the court. Izzo was "a little nicer" when he talked to the ref. Fran was told he was T'd for leaving the coaching box. Izzo did the same thing but wasn't T'd. Fran is also lucky he didn't get T'd when he karate kicked the clipboard. No doubt the team needed a kick in the butt. It'd just be nice if it didn't require giving the opposing team free points.

If there going to hand out T's for being out of the box then it shouldn't't matter if your using puppy dog eyes like Rizzo or if your mad like Fran. Out of the box is out of the box PERIOD! Otherwise it's preferential treatment. You touch a ref it's a T. I'm tired of how king Spartan gets away with all his $$$ $$$$$$$. I wish Fran would chill a bit but come on. The royal job that was done on us last year then the biggest game to date they simply look the other way and Don't call that a travel! The refs didn't miss that call they just let it go. Why! After 14,000 people at the same time BOOOOO'S I think they took it out on Fran. I can't hold it against him on this one.

That's the way of the world. Win some BT championships and NC championships and you get a longer leash.

However, I like Fran's Philly-bred attitude. He's not backing down to anyone. He's barging in through the front door, eff you, if you don't like it.

Don't quite understand your being brash with me cause I was ticked they never give anybody else a T. Like I said if your out of the box you should get aT.e It seems Fran Doesn't receive equal treatment. There's no reason to cuss at me!

Like he said, that's just how it goes. It doesn't help that at least 75% of the time when Fran steps out of the box, he looks ready to tear someone's head off.

So I shouldn't be upset because they give Frran T's and nobody else. Got it. At least I Don't tell everybody I'm done!
 
It's not about the T's, at least I don't want to say it is. Sounds like a cop out but besides the points it's a freaking momentum killer especially agains Wiscy.

We lost to MSU by 2.
We lost to Becky Badger by 4.

24 beers in a case, 24 hours in a day... Coincedence?

Ouch. You really stung me with that rapier wit right there.

The point is that if Fran would change the way he works the officials a little, maybe he'd start getting a little more favorable treatment. Some coaches get a longer leash, and it's been that way for decades. It's not going to change, so it's up to Fran to adapt or for fans to come to grips with the fact that he's going to get T'd more often than Izzo/Ryan/etc.

I'm calling bs. I don't believe any ref would allow a coach to call him an MF even once without T'ing him up.

I don't know. I belive the guy. He gets to go into the private room at Carver at half time where they serve you beer.

Come on. That is the opposite of the truth. The technicals in the Wisconsin game came near the end of a big badger run, as they started the 2nd half 15-6, then after the free throws White scored 8 points in 2 minutes and the Hawks cut the deficit from 8 to 2. The one in the MSU game allowed them to rally and tie the game, then the Hawks went on an 8-2 run immediately following the T. If they did anything to momentum, they killed the other team's momentum.

It's not what he says or why he gets them its how he does it. There's a right way and a wrong way to address an official and screaming til your red in the face or chasing them around the court isn't the right way. If Fran would learn that I think he'd have a little more freedom to get his point across. The problem isn't necessarily what he's saying vs. the way he's saying it. Officials are people to and I'd be willing to bet they're willing to accept that a coach may not like the call or they got it wrong. What they're not going to tolerate is being chased down by a raving lunatic or verbally attacked. I think that's the difference between Fran and Izzo, Izzo is able to keep his poise and doesn't come across as threatening or combative. Bo Ryan is in a completely different world.
