Fran Reaching out to UI Students

The problem wasn't Pierce per se. It was Alford coming out and making that inappropriate statement of support for Pierce and the other things that went on in the Ath Dept.

Just was handled very poorly. At that point people had made an ethical decision that they could not support the program. A group of new fans come on during the Jeff, Bru, Adam year, but they faded as the team faded.

Then came Lick talking about his last job all the time and running that boring scheme.

No, they had it right the first time. Alford sank the program. Lick managed to make it worse....

Good move by Fran! Getting the students back will be a challenge, but if anyone can do it, it is McCaffery.

WRONG. The program definitely regressed under Alford, but Lickliter threw gasoline on it, struck a match, and reduced it to ashes. Lickliter had the worst winning percentage in any other coach in program history. Facts are facts.

I'm no SA fan, but the Alford hate on here is unbelievable.

Back to the topic at hand - I just love Fran's work ethic. It is going to pay dividends. Period.

It was LickPierceFord's fault

That's probably the closest thing to the truth. Everybody mentioned here had a hand in the decline of our program to where it is now. Or at least where it was when Fran took over.

I wholeheartedly disagree, Iowa simply hired the wrong guy, if the program was stable, it would not have gotten to the point it did in such a short period of time.

I do agree that Fran has a great work ethic, but the reality is he is reaching out to a fanbase that wants to be reached out too and embraced. Fran has done that and he will reap all the benefits from it.
