Carver needs to be loud again. Fran knows that it all starts with the Student Section. It's great to here that he will be going out with his team to the dorms to preach his message and persuade the students to get their butts in the seats and support the basketball program. Once the students back Fran, the sky's the limit for the Hawks.

Good for Fran. He's the man. I *am* tired of all the slogans and special games and card flips and commemorative t-shirts and trophy games that the sports-marketing department keep shoving down our throats, though.

This is a good move. I like what Fran is doing. He is really planning ahead and trying to get every advantage he can.

Sorority challenge glycerine cage matches at halftime.
Whatever it takes, Carr, we must fill the arena with screaming students, making Carver dreadful for our opponents. Time to get the home court advantage back for good. When we fill the stands, our recruiting should get another big boost, along with the signing of Mike Gesell and Adam Woodbury.

:)

personally I'm all for anything that helps gets the basketball program attention. since the low days of Alford and switching to big ten network it seems that fans of Iowa football have all but forgotten Iowa has a basketball team, one that is through overall history successful. I don't blame anyone for losing interest for Iowa being on down, but I'm confident it is on its way up. It's great to follow through supporting a team making a big turn around. lion fans that stuck it out have to be feeling pretty good about now.

If the Illannoy fans come into our house and put their feet up on the coffee table like they own the place one more time I'm going to get MAD again!

I like the idea. It is important to get the students excited again about Iowa basketball. Yes, it all does come down to winning. Win and people show up (obvious, right?) ... I like the effort. I like that Fran cares enough to make this a priority. He is doing the right things.

I vote for more than one bus door to be open after games. It makes no sense to walk 3 blocks to stand in a line to get on the one bus with open doors while walking by 6 others with their doors closed when it is 20 degrees outside. I will gladly wait on the warm bus for the seats to fill up.

yeah h8er it was both of them. but I'm pretty sure attendance started coming down his last two years... didn't really come up with licks opening year and obviously got much worst

Sorry, but he was right the first time...it is reality, sorry

Sort of, it was PP who doomed the program, but it was Alford that let him back on the team.

The hire immediately generated excitement. In his first three seasons, Iowa averaged 15,156, 15,500, and 15,207 fans.

But Pierce remained on the team. The first home game that season, Iowa had 12,444 fans come to the game after selling out (15,500) every game the previous season.

The next season, when Pierce took the court once again, there were 10,978 fans at the opener.
