Fran on Tim Brando Show Now

Brando loves him; laughing a ton about how he can't win a HORSE game in his driveway because his wife was an All-American, Fran said and his son. Good interview, lots of laughing.

Did he talk about his team not getting enough assists vs Drake? Of the fact that Woodbury never wins a jump-ball? If not, I'm writing a letter to Brando for not asking the hard questions.

Much to my dismay, no he did not and I was just going to let it go because he said Fran is welcome to come on his show anytime he wants too. Maybe he is only going to ask one tough question each interview. Brando would probably appreciate you concern if you form your letter in a constructive way. ;)

I don't see anything particularly unlikeable about Hoiberg. If he had worn the black and gold, we'd love him just as much as ISU fans do.

I like Fred and respect what he has accomplished since coming to ISU. If you really think about it, he had ZERO coaching experience anywhere, and he has done a great job over there. To not realize this is to just deny reality.

Brando had an interesting take on the new rules. He said it is going make coaches with short benches play a lot more kids and they will have to adapt in their rotations.

The funniest part of the interview was Brando ask Fran where he was coaching in 1987 and he was an assistant at ND. Brando said "You quit Lehigh after you made the NCAA tournament to be and assistant with Digger, what the hell were you thinking."

I have no issues with Hoiturd either, except that he is at ISU and well, I just don't like ISU, but I respect them. The fact that both Iowa/ISU are good benefits both of them, it makes it a marketable game again and that is something that helps both programs to go where they want, the NCAA tournament.
Fred has chosen to built ISU in a different way than Fran has built Iowa, I prefer the way Fran has done it, but to each their own. Fred has done a better than average job with his strategy, my issue is history doesn't support long term results with that amount of turnover on a roster every year. The fact is both are doing great jobs at their respective schools and like I said, it only helps both of them more when they both are potential NCAA tournament teams, or fringe tournament teams, good competition outside of conference and it is a good rivalry as well.
