I cant help but believe Fran's insistence that we are 10 deep will eventually kill us. We are NOT 10 deep and we are much, much more lethal / productive when the rotations are reduced to 8 kids, which allows our studs to play more minutes.

You are so right... name the top 8 STUDS. In the mean time everyone remains fresh and not stressed and with some meaning full minutes. Dev and Mikey will be fresh... so will Aaron...

Into 2nd, 3rd and 4th round in the B1G TEN Tourney... maybe should be prepared.

Into MARCH... deep and without fear... into the 2nd weekend... then who knows?

Coach Fran has repeatedly talked about how Iowa's defense has improved this year because Iowa is so much deeper and can replace starters with able bodied reserves... MAY, McCabe, Clemons, Josh and Gabe.

Along with that.. this allows players like Whitey and Mel (Gessel and Dev too) to stay fresh on the offensive end.

Fran understands that it's always best to get down to 7 or 8 players. It works so much better when Fran has the choice, fouls don't matter and if someone is injured... Iowa will still defend and WIN!

It's OK.. Gabe will block a shot, Clemons will hit a 3... Dev follows up with a DUNK from a pass from Eric....

Good question. I do have a life, and I am moderately search-savvy. In fact, I anticipated this response, so I made sure to note the amount of time it took to use the advanced search feature and type in "BasketballMan + Gabe".

I started writing at 7:01, and hit submit at 7:05. 4 minutes.

Finally, I suppose you're right. You did not actually say, "Gabe is a STUD", but I figured 4 threads calling for him to start/play significant minutes, and even going as far to draft an extremely difficult to read (so I didn't) open letter to a man who I can guarantee does not read the forums, was enough to prove the point.

Oh, and before you question my time commitment to you, I started writing this post at 7:39, and will hit submit at 8:42.

i truly believe that there is a difference between what Fran says, and what he actually believes. and i think many folks take him too seriously. he's a great salesman for the university. once you look at it that way, it makes more sense. he understands the media and uses that to his advantage. that makes him very different from what we've had for b-ball coaches.

He has some Hayden Fry in him. And I like that.
