Fran on the Tim Brando Show

I cant help but believe Fran's insistence that we are 10 deep will eventually kill us. We are NOT 10 deep and we are much, much more lethal / productive when the rotations are reduced to 8 kids, which allows our studs to play more minutes.

i truly believe that there is a difference between what Fran says, and what he actually believes. and i think many folks take him too seriously. he's a great salesman for the university. once you look at it that way, it makes more sense. he understands the media and uses that to his advantage. that makes him very different from what we've had for b-ball coaches.

I dont disagree and you make a good point. Problem is he continues to play 10 guys way, way to often. If we are gonna play 10, 2 or 3 of those kids should only get 6-7 minutes TOPS that represent quick breathers for our studs. Guys like Marble, White, Mikey G need to be on the court 30-33 minutes each and every game.

That's about all Ogelsby, Clemmons and Olaseni got yesterday. I think these 3 are becoming those breather guys...unless Ogelsby happens to be hot a particular game. If we don't get to 10-8 it will take 10 guys to win 4 in 4 days. I know. I know. That's not likely to happen...but it's pretty much impossible with a 7 man rotation.

Brando must love him some Fran. Seems like every 3 weeks Fran is on his show.

Wow, you make a great point regarding the BTT. A 10 man rotation could really pay off if you have to play 4 games in 4 days!!!!

Take the long view on the bench: the benefits will be seen next year more and more.
I bet Tubby wished he had been playing more guys; Fran gives these players an opportunity, and they can respond when needed.

LOL...now THAT is funny!

Whar Gabe on your list bbm?

I think most of our kids are pretty close in skill level and ability. I think we are pretty deep. Play the ones that are having a good game, mix it up, I think Fran is doing a good job in this area.

Did you have a rough childhood? Why do you see the need to blowup a perfectly good thread with a jab like that? I don't ever recall suggesting Gabe was one of our studs. Did I?

If I took the time to go back and take a look, I think I could come up with one of your rants proclaiming Gabe as a stud. I am not going to bother however. As to why I continue to poke at you? I already told you, I find your username combined with your lack of actual basketball knowledge to be offensive.

Siouxboy. Get your panties out of the bundle they are in (yet again). Will you please? I encourage you to take the time from your extremely busy and productive life, and find that "rant" where I proclaimed Gabe a "stud".

Given, I don't know you, and those were from 2011, but there you go. I also mostly just read the board, but you seem to be angry a lot.

Iowa doesn't have 10 guys that can play 10+ minutes a game, I will agree with you there, but 10 deep can mean he plays 10 guys. The thing is, Iowa has a bench and that second unit comes in and plays really good defense, runs the offense and doesn't turn the ball over. They also can't score, but that is okay, in a game like yesterday they didn't have to score. They came in and slowed the game down and stemmed the tide, Fran slowly brought back his starters and found a combination that was able to score and bring Iowa back.

Fran plays 10 guys, but Iowa can't rely on 10 guys to play major minutes if they had too, I will agree with you on the 8, but definitely not 10.

Honestly, I don't think it is going to kill Iowa either, what it does is keep Iowa's best players rested, except for yesterday when Fran said Basabe got tired at the end of the game, I don't remember him saying anyone else aside from Woodbury gets winded right now.

Looks guys. Fran is doing a great job but until he starts taking bm's advice we will never be back.
