Fran Offers 7'3" Chol Marial

Chol is going straight to the NBA after HS.

I found this interesting comment in that article at the end.

“A prominent Big 10 school was in the gym and was looking at a kid they’re continuing to recruit,” Kehoe related. “When asked about Chol, he said he’s not going to even tell his superior about him because we can’t get involved in a player at his level. That absolutely floored me.”

He doesn't look nearly as skinny and weak as I thought he would. I'm glad Fran got in on him early. This could turn into something special.

If we get him I hope Fran plays him at point guard. It'd blow our opponents' minds. :p Manute Bol always reminded me of about a 4 month old Giraffe calf whenever I'd watch him run. I always wondered if he was gonna be able to negotiate the next step he took.

Which shade of blue will he be wearing you mean? Kansas, Duke, UNC, or Kentucky blue? And if Alford's fired in the next couple of years, add UCLA to the mix.

Was thinking the same thing. By 2019, Self will probably be around, but Coach K and Williams could be retired and Calpari could be taking his last shot at the NBA. So who really knows, he could end up in some other color.

That's why I was a little hesitant about the whole deal. Either they're all coming around knocking or they're not. If they're all coming around, we probably won't get him. If they're not coming around, he might not be worth getting. I do like what I see, though.

That's crazy. He's more athletic and coordinated then Manute was in his prime it looks like. He may or may not end up quite that tall but geez. That's ridiculous. I would venture there's a slim to none chance he suits up for the Hawks. I'd heard rumblings about how the 1 and done rule may be changed again down the road. I don't think they should have it. It's so circumstantial. If a kid can't cut the mustard and a team drafts him that's those two's problem. It's just funny how the owners made a rule to try and protect themselves from themselves basically. Like the Sonics drafting that red headed teenager years ago really high. That's a part of it. But you know what it's not hardly fair to keep a KG or Lebron from going pro if they want to. The NBA teams just need to scout better and let the kids know where they stand realistically. If either the team or kid messes that up it's on them.
