Fran NEVER actually bumped the ref!!!

Ok, so he did not actually bump the ref. But for me that does not change the fact that Fran needs to be under control during those moments. Intentionally getting a technical, seriously? If so he picked a horrible place and time to do it and it cost his team the game. This veteran team should not need that kind of message sent, they should be able to regroup and kill the momentum without giving up easy free throws. Coming out of that timeout they would have had a 60% free throw shooter attempting 2 shots (he made one), you get the ball with a 1 point lead instead of being down by 3.

I don't really disagree with your post, other than to say that the frequency of purposeful technical fouls is higher than you may think.

It doesn't matter if Fran did bump the ref or if the ref pushed Fran. The ref obviously felt he was in a position that he had to keep Fran at bay. Fran came pretty close to hitting a ref at one point when he was waving his arms around and definitely warranted needing to be kept back.

Sorry, brah, but we lose by 12 if Fran doesn't get the T there. Badger games are pre-determined and the only way you're going to win there is if your team shoots lights out for 40 minutes and Wisconsin shoots 20%. The way games are officiated up there truly is an insult to the fans' intelligence, but shoddy officiating has made Vince McMahon a lot of money, so why can't Jim Delany play too?

If Fran hadn't done something, the game would have continued to be called the same, and there was no way we were going to win. Something had to be done for that reason, and to show the players that he was going to fight for them. How do you think the players thought about the Olaseni calls at both ends, and a few other very questionable calls before that like the offensive goal tending on Olaseni when the ball was clearly outside the rim. Somewhat discouraging......
