I guess I was under the mistaken impression that Fran was the HEAD basketball coach...my bad!
Then again, you're probably right....if Iowa had a functioning head coach, games like this wouldn't happen year after year after year...

It is in the sense that adjustments were not made on defense DURING the first half, and they had to wait until the second half to make the adjustments.

What bothered me the most was after we got the lead late in the second half why did we go into that STUPID slow down game where we just passed the ball around the perimeter until we got to the 12 second mark and then we had to force up a shot with the clock running out.

1. He built this incredibly weak willed team.
2. He clearly lacks the ability to coach them up and appears to do the opposite As every time he has an outbreak they fold.
3. He continues to play guys like McCabe last year and Oglesby this year when any 3rd grader can see that they are a drain to the rest of the team.
4 he lacks the ability to make in game adjustments to game plan or personnel.
Should I go on?

Agree with the Woody part but he can't play Jok at that point. Can't play any defense what so ever. Our defense was already struggling today so there was no way he was gonna play when we needed stops. Oglesby can play D and doesn't make many mistakes even if he's not hitting so he can play him. But intil Jok Learns how to play D he isn't gonna get many minutes down the stretch. Jok has had a consistency to turn it over a lot lately too on the drive.

7. He doesn't have his team prepared to play against teams that they should be able to beat easy.
I mean, I used to think his basketball intelligence was off the charts after listening to his interviews but now it makes he doubt him even more because of his silly hyperbole. If oglesby is the best shooter he has seen then he is either unqualified or dumber than a box of hair.

Iowa's men's athletic programs are in the toilet. At this point any major University who values their money sports would have fired Barta by now.
To to be a sports fan of the football and basketball programs at the University of Iowa is about as much fun as terrorist or the CIA do waterboarding to you.

I'm not an coaching, lineup, or substitution expert, so I won't comment on those things. What I do know is if your team shoots 32%, it's bad. I guess I have to blame Frans recruiting then.
Fran is the coach, so he has to take the blame.
I'm frustrated, and terrified of another meltdown. But I still love Fran, and I back him. I admit I tend to be too loyal At times. I still think things overall have been better every year, although by tiny tiny steps.

the Iowa athletic department needs Dan Gable to lead it. It needs to stop accepting mediocrity.

Agreed 100%. There is nothing in the near future that gives me hope for either program. Both coaches have shown they won't change even when they have every reason to make changes. Our recruiting is terrible. We consistently lose to inferior teams in both sports. And our ******* spineless athletic director sits on his *** and doesn't do jack ****. Our men's teams are an embarrassment.
