Baer drains two threes, nothing-but-net daggers. Doesn't touch the ball for the rest of the game.

Instead our senior "leaders" try to lay up the ball over trees underneath, miss clutch free throws, and shy away from wanting the ball.

Karnak says NEIChawk, spend more time on the Off Topic site where you will be a God if you just post videos, gif's, and memes.....Iowa will play Nebraska or Illinois in the BTT and sit down waiting for selection Sunday, where they will become a 7 seed and get bounced by Dayton, or Hawaii, or, hell, put anyone out there......maybe the DII team that beat'em in the "scrimmage" No guard play, no coaching down the stretch, nobody that can move w/out the ball, nobody that can rebound.....what else am I missing? Defend the 3? Did we do that tonight? F*ck no, and her I am, typing anything that comes to mind......time for bed.....screw this

And nice assist to Jok, better get him out quick.

I hear you. But I was at the game and he was really sucking air and seemed to be wanting to be taken out??

Remember it was a pretty good stretch for him and it's not like he has been playing very much as of late. Just don't think he was in the best "game shape".

I would be curious to know what kind of shape Jok was in because he didn't look too good, or if anyone else has been sick??

Imagine the backlash if we lose with Baer still in the game.

Backlash is irrelevant. It's about who gives you the best chance to win the game in the moment. That was clearly Baer. I have a tough time believing that Izzo, Coach K, Coach Cal or any of the other great coaches wouldn't try to go with the (only) hot hand on the floor.

My point wasn't that he shouldn't have done it fot fear of backlash. There would have been backlash because leaving a walk on freshman in the game looks crazy if it backfires.

True. Fans probably would have lost their minds even more. But do you think fans really would have had more trust in our seniors (Uthoff, Clemmons, Gesell) in that situation than Baer, considering he was hot? I mean I wouldn't, considering I've watched them fail in late game situations for four years now. I'm legitimately asking, not trying to be rhetorical

I really don't know how to answer that. When I saw them come back in, for some reason my thought was our bench did their job now let's close this out. I have no idea why I thought that, but at that moment in time, I stupidly thought it was a good idea.

Yeah, I mean I personally would have been happy with a Baer shot for the final possession even if it was a miss, but that's just me. I've just seen the same old story too much from this crew and from seniors in general in late game situations where I think we just need something different at the end. Makes me think back to the Marble late game collapses and McCabe's infamous Wisconsin air ball 3 haha

I was thinking the same thing. Oh well.

Clemmons came in for Baer, personally I would have brought Clemmons in for Gessell. Baer was playing well and Mike's inability to shoot from outside is killing us. The Hoosiers were just begging him to shot and he didn't even look at the rim. Makes it pretty easy to defend when you don't have to worry about the PG shooting the rock...just sag and bunch the middle.

I'd of been just as fine seeing Williams down the stretch. Hell of a first half, when no one else wanted their name in the scorebook and nowhere to be found late in the game.

Great coaches play the percentages -- that is why coaches let their star players continue to shoot, even on off nights. If Baer takes that last shot instead of Jok, this board's metldown would have been epic.
