Fran B1G COY?

It is kind of a far-fetched notion to think Fran would get this honor but:

I was listening to the broadcast of Ill/OSU yesterday and the OSU broadcasting crew mentioned that Fran deserved serious consideration for the work he has done since he started.

Good to hear some outside folks who recognize what Fran has done and feel he could be rewarded for what he has accomplished to this point and they mentioned that Iowa is going to be in great shape to be a serious threat to some teams next season.

Maybe a year to early? As I said, I don't think he will get much consideration, but was good to hear what they had to say. Especially when people at times, think he hasn't shown to be a good coach yet, or the "jury" is out still.

My pecking order:

Crean
Matta
Ryan
Beilein
Izzo
Groce
Painter
Fran- team simply blew too many close games down the stretch to be rated higher. Iowa's talent was probably top 4.

Top four talent. Hope you're trolling

Iowa has top 4 talent? You really think so?

I do, but it is just too inconsistent due to youth. Save for Michigan, there wasn't a game where with a few minutes left I got the same level of despair I got when Greg Davis needed to commandeer the football team down the field for a score to win a game.

You think Iowa's talent is ahead of one of these teams, along with experience, IU, OSU, MSU, Mich? I would put Iowa at # 5 or 6 combination of talent and experience.

If we were a talented shooting team we might be celebrating a regular season championship as they might have lost only two games, Mich and at Indiana.

While Coach McCaffery has done an admirable job reconstructing the program from the maelstrom of his initial hiring, an award for "Coach of the Year" is axiomatically that; The best coach for that year. The ediface would be fundamentally deficient if it rewarded exploits from previous seasons.

Considering this premise, speculation for Coach McCaffery to procure this honor seems equivocal, as several coaches have experienced considerable levels of ascendancy beyond what our coach has achieved.

And that would be who?

I think Klondike is just a wee bit insecure about something; I wonder what it is? Maybe that could be a thread. His $50 words are unimpressive in such a venue and is comparable to wearing a tux to a tailgate. Or is he that dude who rents a luxury car to drive to his reunion?

And that would be who?

A cursory observation of the league table shows six coaches who have directed their squads to a greater percentage of wins, so, lacking the duration to synthesize this evidence, I will postulate the award will be endowed on one of those six coaches, with the greatest probability directed towards Coach Crean, as his team was superior of the lot.

Top 4 for depth maybe but not talent. Probably only ahead of Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn State, and Purdue for talent. We do have good depth though.

Quite the vocab, but not much for math I see.

Yeah, no...Iowa's "best" players were a split on Third team and Iowa had nobody on the All-Freshman team.
Top 4 talent gets someone on 1st or 2nd team...not so much for Iowa, have another one.

It was Bo Ryan and it should have been Bo Ryan. Lost Josh Gasser, lost Mike Bruisewitz for stretches twice this year, lost Frank Kaminsky for multiple games.

Only coaches with more COY are Bob Knight and Gene Keady.

And of course, you are wrong...I would wager he wasn't even 2nd.

The players on all-conference teams are typically from the best performing teams. Not a novel concept.

Thad Matta...lost much more than Ryan and finished higher with a less than full allotment of scholarships.

Jordan Taylor was a bigger loss than any of the guys you listed.

So you think Iowa has top 4 talent and players like White, Marble, Gesell should have been recognized in higher capacities or at all?

Slam another one.
