FOX Network

It's no wonder FOX is losing the contract for these games. The commentators don't know squat, the camera people have shown more closeups of random women in the stands and the marching bands than the actual game! And it freaks me out every time they cut to and from commercials in mid sentence of the commentators...I honestly think I could shoot a better game with my home video camera while intoxicated and with the lense cap on. I sure hope the Orange Bowl isn't televised this bad.

Fox seems very unconcerned about the college football games. They havent added much insight at all and their announcers are pretty much clueless. The NFL network did the ISU Minny game and they put ALL Fox announcers to shame.......

Fox broadcasts these games the same way they do their postseason MLB games. Lots of tight shots of the fans, players, coaches, etc....

While I don't find it annoying as some, I'm glad that the Iowa/GT game will be the last BCS game ever to be televised on Fox. College football is not their game.

i thought the nfl network was a patch-work at best. lots of miscues both technically and in the announcing.

That's Sam Rosen for you.

But it might be even worse, as it looks like we get to suffer Dick Stockton for the Orange Bowl. :(

Stockton has enough gaffs per game that 670 The Score's B&B Show have a Dick Stockton Award for "Excellence" in Broadcasting during their annual Quote of the Year show. And, of course, Stockton won it again, this time with a memorable "Ball four! Strike three!" call during the MLB playoffs.

Agree, that broadcast was terrible. Burmeister tried, but he's better off behind a teleprompter. It would almost make more sense to give that game to the BTN and let some folks who actually know something about at least one of the teams call the game.

The BTN will eventually get a bowl game anyway, and the Insight - or any low level Big 10 bowl - would be a good way for the network to get it's feet wet.

It didn't go to Chip Caray? "Line drive...caught! Base hit!"

I can't wait for ESPN to control the BCS next year. I think you will see everything is much improved. To the hype, the announcers, the BCS standings announcement (currently a joke on the OT during NFL games). It's just better for college football to have ESPN involved.

On the East Coast the booth feed dropped out at some point during the third quarter. All you could get was stadium ambient noise -- the crowd, referee whistles, the occasional clash of pads on plays. If the camera was on a close-up of something that made noise (eg cheerleader or a band member) that was picked up, too. But no game play-by-play or commentary, nothing on the upcoming game promos done from the booth.

Was pretty funny and actually made for a more interesting broadcast. It lasted quite a while; don't know if or when they got it back as I fell asleep before the end of the game.

Does anyone remember the NFL (I think) game in the 70s where the network did not have any announcers. I think it is great if you are a hard core fan of the team that is playing but if I recall it can get a little boring with out some sort of commentary.

I remember when they did that. It was a long time ago.

I too heard their mistake where they were previewing the Orange Bowl and said that we lost our last two games.

I would agree that FOX's college broadcasts...

are lacking. I don't understand their struggles given that they do a good job with the NFL. Everything from the stadium noise not being quite right to the weird camera shots and angles.

Dick Stockton will be completely underwhelming tonight. He doesn't do college games all year and will not be familiar with what's going on. Charles Davis is a good commentator, he at least is familiar with the teams and what they are about.

I did enjoy FOX's gratutious shots of those TCU stripp...er, dancers, in the purple hot pants. I found it very strange TCU would have a group of girls like that, and even more suprised by the "exotic" dances they were performing. It made me forget about the C in TCU.

There is no possible way that tonight's announcers can be as bad as the d-bags that did the Iowa/USC Orange Bowl ... Thankfully ESPN spent mission-to-the-moon money to get these games back

You must have been talking with my wife....she said the SAME thing, especially about the C in TCU. I somehow missed those finer points.....
