Sorry I don't have much information but former Iowa State basketball player Jackson Vroman died in a car accident. A young man goes to soon. Prayers go out to his family and friends. May he rest peacefully with the Lord for the rest of eternity.

Now appears to be a fall at home, falling into a pool and drowning. Bad deal either way. RIP

Man, they have some tragic losses the past decade or so, between football and basketball alone. Prayers go out to his family/friends/et. al.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I can think of 7 or 8 guys and it feels like I am forgetting 1 or 2 more. It is really weird.

It is quite tragic and strange when you think of the numbers. They are all still young. Weird.

We can relate to what they're going through as we've dealt with the premature deaths of Chris Street, Bruce King and Reggie Roby. We of course don't feel the impact that family and friends do but we feel the loss. About a year ago I gained a new friend through a Bible study. He was a really good guy. May 27th he went in for hip replacement surgery and he never woke up. We buried him yesterday. He was only 50 years old. Death causes us to step back from the ledge and get our priorities in order. I've always pushed things when it comes to ISU but when someone passes away I join in their morning. The world lost another way to soon.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I wonder what happened for a grown man to die in his pool?

the assumption is is that if you have a pool, you must be able to swim.

water is pretty unforgiving, and really dangerous - that is why i would not want to have a pool in the backyard, even though i'm a really good swimmer and love the water.

one slip, hit your head, land in the pool, and if you are alone, that is it. same with diving from a board alone - accidently hit head on board and get knocked out - that is it. in the pool and have a cardiac event....could it be that he was intoxicated?

all speculation, but unless the death is otherwise suspicious, all legit possibilities.

sorry to hear dying too young, too soon.

I've read two different deals one saying he died in pool and another saying car accident. Was their a car accident involving his pool? That I combination I hadn't seen. I assume only one of those is right and it'll get sorted out. I hope whatever outfit is reporting the wrong one gets called to the carpet cause I hate that crap like that gets out. It's a simple thing to get right and the family and friends deserve that.

I'm sorry for your loss.
Thanks a lot. Death is a part of life. What we need to do when we lose someone is not forget to continue to support the family. After the funeral family members can feel somewhat lost and the surviving spouse might not know how to do the things that the spouse usually took care of. We need to be the bridge for the gap that is there.

Agreed, but ISU seems REALLY affected with this. As in, like 10 guys/gals since late-1990s to present.

Sorry to hear about your friend. My friend's brother went for knee replacement about six months ago, and the same thing happened. He just never woke up. Sad, scary, tragic all at the same time.
