Seriously? How did he feel? He felt like he stuck with something, was the beginning of a turnaround. he wanted to wear a Hawkeye uniform and did much more than that here. I don't think you know much because Gatens was one person who never complained, he took what was given to him and he definitely goes down as one of my favorite Hawks of all-time.

Dude has a right to be ****** about playing during the worst period in Iowa basketball history. I'm sure when he was a kid shooting hoops in the back yard, he wasn't dreaming about hitting a three to cut a Texas-Pan American lead to 10 in the final minutes of a loss. Really wish he could have been on a tourny team cause he deserved it.

Nothing against Cougill or Payne, but neither IMO were big ten players. They both had no business being at Iowa in the first place, aside from the fact that they were brought in to fit Lick's system. I'm glad they're playing well, but they are playing where they belong now. By all means not a shot at either of these individuals.

Then I guess White isn't either seeing how both he and Payne were 1st-team freshman all-big 10. Huh....imagine that!

p.s. He was the only starting freshman point guard in the league during the 09-10 season.

When did he ever say he was upset about it? Im sure as a kid all he wanted, was to wear an Iowa jersey. He did that and much more. Im with ya on wishing he could have been a part of a NCAA tourney team.

Gatens was a frustrated Licks final year. He was doing things I had never really saw him do previously. He was throwing stuff while on the bench, and just looked flat out ****** off during games.

Gatens never said anything to the press I guess but he was very upset.
