Forde on KF

Reads like he doesn't really believe KF, or Bob Stoops, will be going anywhere.

He does throw out this nugget:

"There are several other schools that would be wise to fire their current coach if they could land Ferentz."

Read it yourself here.

That would be great if another school would pony up the $ to make it worthwile for KF to leave. He could take Parker with him and get KOK back.

Thanks for the link....actually not a fan of Forde, but that was a good column.

He has an outside perspective, and is relatively objective. His comments on KF and Stoops make sense.
We could fire KF and never get a coach who does as well. If we win out and make a good bowl, maybe KF will listen to offers? I know fans love the idea of a new coach next year, but are they ready for the transition that will entail? Possibly several years of losing, with no assurances that the new guy ever wins?

Also liked that Forde went out of his way to point out how unfair the schedule was for Iowa this year, with 4 straight opponents coming off of a bye week. I know fans disregard that because they feel the schedule was so easy it should not matter, but it does. We are not head and shoulders above NW, Minny, Md, or Illi...and that extra week really does help.

You can bet you a** that each and every big ten team would gladly sign up for our unfair schedule. Are you kidding me? Bye weeks or not Michigan and Michigan State would gladly romp through our schedule 11-0. No pity party for Kirk here, we just stink and that is on him.

Not sure Michigan could romp through any schedule this year.

Wait a minute. Iowa had bye weeks before playing Indiana and Maryland. Out of 8 quarters of football in those games, the offense showed up for the first half against Indiana (2 quarters). Other then that, the offense did little for 6 quarters and the defense didn't show up at all against either team.

I guess coming off a bye week only works for other teams because it didn't work for the Hawks, at least in terms of great overall consistent play and with 2 weeks to prepare.

Mich, 11-0 ???

As for the article, I think he's not necessarily saying it would be a bad move to fire Ferentz, but he's saying that if fired, he thinks Ferentz could do a good job somewhere else. I agree with him, depending on the job Ferentz chose.

I hear that Iowa State could be in the market.

The offense went into snooze control in the 2nd half vs Indiana... Because it could. I hope you weren't really expecting another 30+ points there.

And vs Maryland the offense looked good for the first part of the game before commiting turnovers/penalites/errors that killed drives.

Its obvious Iowa took full advantage of the bye weeks before Indiana an NW.

From the article:

Ferentz has had two three-year periods of great prosperity: he went 31-7 from 2002-04, and then 28-11 from 2008-10. The record from 2005-07 and from 2011-present doesn’t match his exorbitant salary: 44-40. The Hawkeyes have lost eight straight games to ranked opponents, and their last three losses all have been to unranked teams. Iowa has lost three of its last four to rival Iowa State as well."

He isn't endorsing kfootball; just saying he's a good coach.

Wait a minute. Iowa had bye weeks before Indiana and Northwestern, which was Iowa's 2 biggest wins this year. Iowa did not have a bye before MD and lost.
