A source out of West Virginia is saying Ben turned them down and he is heading to Iowa. The West Virginia YouTuber is quoting 247 Sports, and College Basketball Report, https://www.youtube.com/live/tEr0jIeAANA?si=GC8C9L3mRfeGqJRU

College Sports Wire also reporting this. https://collegesportswire.usatoday....etball-ben-mccollum-target-drake/82626318007/

Sports illustrated says not so fast my friend and at the time of their reporting it's wasn't a completed deal just yet. https://www.si.com/college/iowa/basketball/iowa-hawkeyes-coaching-search-odd-turn-ben-mccollum

If you build it they will come. Let's start with that guard from Drake.

SOME GOOD READS THERE FOR YOU ALL

Just for fun how about a little praise from some former NBA stars for Caitlin. A HAWKEYE GREAT!!!

I grew up in Iowa and have lived in the Midwest my entire life. Much like McCollum, I grew up in Iowa a Hawkeye fan, but lived for professional reasons most of my adult life in Missouri and Nebraska. If I was going to switch jobs and had opportunities in Iowa and West Virginia, I cannot imagine how much more the West Virginia job would have to offer me to make me move my family to a place like West Virginia. Ben has lived in the same culture his entire life. Moving to a different part of the country for the first time, with a vastly different culture, would be a challenge. Setting aside he has no connections or recruiting toeholds in that area of the country. Comfort and familiarity does play into this, gents.

If he is smart, he used WV as leverage to land the job he really wants. That is all.

It sounds like he's just doing things the 'right' way behind the scenes I suppose. Which is great it'd be nice to get it wrapped up today/with the portal being opened up for everyone now. But even if it's tomorrow that'd be alright. Beth I'd assume is going to be in OK with the women today so being in two places at once is problematic.

What do you guys feel about reporters cornering coaches immediately after they lose to badger them about other jobs they are up for? I lean towards that there's a time and place. Let them reflect on the game they just lost and season they just had for a bit. Those questions about the future can still be asked in the not to distant future. They never answer those honestly in those moments anyway. They either deflect it like a politician or straight up lie like a politician.

That's where timing comes into play. Say Fran was fired after last yr. DeVries isn't going out to WVU instead of Iowa. If the money is in the ball park he's just not. Money is why he went to Indiana from there he's damn near doubling what he was getting.

But who cares about all that now. News just broke that Ben McCullum has been hired and he's our man

Can you imagine being only 44 and landing your dream job? This cat has energy to burn. Did you see the video where BMc was running the football steps and working out with the Drake team last summer? It is a remarkable video.

I think we have the next Bobby Knight, I really do.

Yup. Culture is key.

I'm 44. Thanks for making me feel younger.
