For those that think Ferentz and staff are beyond reproach...

In previous years, I've defended KF to the point of exhaustion amongst fellow hawk fans.

This year, I'm more critical of him. His conservative play calling is frustrating.

We just recently found out that Iowa has the second-most players in the NFL amongst Big Ten teams, and has the 8th most in the nation.

With all that NFL talent, why has Iowa lost 6 of its last 13 games by 4 points or less?

The argument that Iowa doesn't have the talent of the elite teams doesn't really hold up. NFL rosters tell us otherwise.

It's foolish to blindly follow along. KF is a big boy who is paid over $3 million/year. He can handle the pressure.

Second, I truly believe that it's that passion, and sometimes unrealistic expectations from a program that can propel it to to greatness. Frank Solich was fired after going 9-3. But would anyone argue that Nebraska is not better off today with Bo Pelini as its head coach than it would be if they had held on to Solich?

umm. I would.

Frank Solich
9-4
12-1
10-2
11-2
7-7
10-3

After Solich
5-6
8-4
9-5
5-7
9-4
10-4
10-4

So Bo Pelini's best year is as good as Solich's 2nd worst.

To think that NFL teams can't evaluate and make decisions on their own about a player is foolish. Whatever Ferentz opinion is on a player isn't going to make or break a player's ability to get an opportunity to play in the NFL.

Talent and winning trump all else in the NFL including any dirty laundry you may bring with you as a player. Sounds like R. Howe might have chased a lure that DJK is known to throw in the water. This player creates his own issues not Ferentz.

I still think DJK may get a chance in the future.

i didn't mind rob's questions to kirk. however, i do disagree with the venue he chose to ask those questions. after a loss to an in-state rival before the 3rd week of the season at a press conference does not seem the appropriate time to be asking about a player who hasn't been on the team since december. at least not the questions he was asking(meaning i'm perfectly fine with questions about greenwood).

you want to ask kirk questions that aren't relevant to where his focus is right now, then ask them at a different time. let the presser be about relevant events about the iowa hawkeye football team.

and, for the record, i have no issues with people questioning kirk's decisions. but you're beating a dead horse

So I can't blame people for being critical and asking a few questions.

And yet, whenever you do, some people fall back on the "You should be thankful we have Ferentz" and "Back when I was growing up..." bs posts. Or they act as if these criticisms are somehow new (while firing back with "It'll never change, so eff off").

Some of the defenders are as bad as the over-the-top posters.
