For those that hate Nebraska

Are you cheering for the Nuskers this weekend against MSU? An MSU loss brings them to a tie with Iowa and others. Not sure I can bring myself to do it. Guess I'll have to skip the game and look for the score.

I think any intelligent fan would have to cheer for Nebraska.

This. And do we have to go through this every week for every Wisky or Nebraska game?

You cheer for the team that can help Iowa the most until they are mathematically eliminated from the division title race. Its not that hard.

Sorry if I missed a Wisky thread last week, but we're not in Wisconsin's division, so I think it's a bit different. Nebraska needs to lose as many games as possible, too. We play them in Lincoln, while we, in theory, have a better chance with MSU, since the game's at home. Don't hate Wisky like I hate Nebby. My mind says that, yes, MSU needs to lose, but try living in Lincoln for several years. A Nebby win helps them get closer to a division title as well, while a loss almost seals their fate.

Nebby's schedule is much harder than MSU's the rest of the way. They will not be winning the division.

I hear many people say "try living in Lincoln." Why let another team cloud your judgement?

It's not easy. Just wondering if others were having the problems I was having "trying" to root for Nebraska this week. I know I need to cheer for them, but...

I cannot root for our new rival and Nebraska needs another beat down. Iowa controls their own destiny, if they are good enough to win the division then they should be able to beat MSU & Nebraska.

Go Sparty!

I'm actually rooting for MSU because even though an MSU loss would put Iowa in a tie for division lead, it would not change the fact that Iowa will still need to beat MSU to win the division. If you think about it, if MSU loses to Nebraska, they have one loss. If we lose to MSU, we have one loss. Tie breaker is the head to head, so MSU wins the division anyway. There is noone on their schedule that can beat them but Neb and maybe Iowa. So, either way we have to beat MSU, and I just want Neb out of the hunt completely, narrowing the race down.

Or actually two losses, I mean, and even if MSU has two losses, their having beaten us head to head, they still win the division. I suppose the only way a loss by MSU to Neb helps us, is because of the somewhat small possibility that we end the season with two conference losses, but we beat MSU head to head, so that we are not MSU's only conference loss, because if we are and we have two conference losses, obviously they still win the division.

No matter who wins or loses that game, Iowa most likely has to beat both of them and Michigan to make it to the conference championship game. It is pretty much the same thing for every team. you pretty much have to roll you division or you will be watching the championship game form home.

The road to Indy is coming through Kinnick, but that doesn't mean that Iowa can do anything but be a speed bump. To be a contender Iowa needs to win two tough home games, and two away games. My best guess is that they win one of the four and finish as an also ran.
