Football Parking

What's up with the football parking this year? I tailgate with friends in different lots and was wondering if this has been decided yet. www.uifootballparking.com says it should be available today. I read Game Day Parking at Kinnick Shuffled - Iowa Official Athletic Site from July but it has listed a lot of "options".

Myrtle is closed unless you put down over $1000 in donations. So my new home this year will be Finkbine Commuter Lot. Hopefully some of you Myrtle transplants will be heading there too.

Not that I am trying to claim to be a victim here but all of the people complaining about losing the myrtle lot just remember that those people who are going to park there this year were displaced from the dental lot by the $5000/yr donors.

Although they haven't updated the parking lot assignments yet they did update the tailgate rules on the website. From what I have read it looks like there are no changes from last years rules, so at least it looks like they took a break from dropping the hammer on us like they have in the past. Remember, you can walk down Melrose with an open container in University Heights but as soon as you walk across the railroad bridge you better be done with it.

I think open container last year was around 180 a ticket. I walked one block by the stadium and counted about 15 police officers in that distance. Eesh I already miss four years ago when a person could maybe see four or so cops the whole day.

I park downtown so I can imbibe at the bars before hitting the tailgates. Plus, I can grab a Starbucks for the walk if I need it.

Plus it's easy egress postgame if I'm not hitting the bars again.
