Flipping Yahweh...

It's probably a good thing he isn't a running back. We wouldn't want to stir up any jealousy from the one whose name shall never be mentioned.

Oh, he came right right out the chute in the Logan Wolf thread, immediately denouncing a player he has seen a lot less than our coaches. Rob threatened to bring Thor's hammer. Among other things, blocking amongst wideouts is a big part of what our coaches look for, better or for worse. Anyone know how much Nebraska's receivers block down field? Just to name one example.

I'd of came up with an example who has had recent success against us lately. Not saying there isn't truth behind your example, but it probably isn't fair to use them as an example. I heard they once won some NC's in the 20th century.

I wonder how much we would target a Rondale Moore type receiver if we had one. Brian's offense, for better or worse, features the tight ends. When was the last time an Iowa wideout caught fifty passes? KMM? McNutt?

Matt Vandeberg had 65 in 2015. 2016 he got hurt after getting a Yes out of his now wifey after ISU game that year.

I can't wait to hear Kirk refer to Yahweh as Yahweh. This is not a Kirk Ferentz name. This is right up there with other self-aggrandizing names like Ego Ferguson and Greedy Williams. Kirk hates the modern "All Eyeze on Me!" culture. I'm sure if Kirk had the ability he'd change this kid's name to something like Mark Anderson--the kid who always says "Sir" and "Ma'am" and shovels the neighbor's driveway when no one's watching.

Kirk Ferentz probably doesn't like the name Yahweh...but Kirk FreeBird might have:

Quite a bit actually. This was one thing that somewhat surprised me in our game against them...their WR did a great job on the outside with blocking.

Get your hair cut for the senior picture. But mom, I spent the last two years growing this mullet. At least get a good trim to the bottom of the ears, keep all that neck fuzz if you must.

Okay, that's cool. In actuality there are probably few programs where receivers aren't at least adequate blockers. Our program just seems to get more notoriety for it.

Wait until Beth Mowins tries to say the name on the air.

Fifty somethings may remember a Cleveland Browns wide receiver named Fair Hooker. That dude would have had no chance with Kirk. The Browns played the Jets in the first Monday Night Football game in 1970. Don Meredith was famous that night for mentioning his name and saying he hadn't met one yet. Amani, evidently, has been safe with Kirk up to this point.

For those who don't believe you, this guy did exist. Could not find Dandy Don clip though. :) And, the old NFL Films music ... exquisite.

He played for Frank Kush at Arizona State. His teammates included Curley Culp, Isiah Robertson (who just passed away) and, for one season, a baseball player named Reggie Jackson.

ASU was a national power back then. I'm sure several ASU players from that era had decent NFL careers.

Too bad that diving catch he made in the clip would be overturned today. That ball hit the ground.

I don't think that Isiah Robertson played at ASU. He played at Southern University. He was a small school find back in the day and a very good player in the NFL. Sad to hear of his passing.

OK. Yes he was a very good player. Its also sad that only fifty years ago many players like Robertson had to go small colleges the South and Texas because SEC and SWC schools were segregated. Hayden deserves a huge bow for integrating the SWC in 1968. And pro teams who took the effort to send their scouts to those small schools had a huge advantage over those who wouldn't.

Gotta remember, many "pro" teams were de facto segregationists, as well. Several Black players went to Canada because of better contracts, etc. AFL and CFL were helped at the time because of it.
