Fitzgerald's Take On The Game

I admire his intensity and his competitiveness, but I've never liked him. That's just fine, I think, because they are our competitor. It just makes it more fun when we beat them.

All of that sideline intensity looks great when you're winning, but when you're 0-3 in the B10, it doesn't play as well.

I loved the sideline violation, I loved the pick 6, and I love the fact that Iowa decided to ram the ball down their throats when the game was on the line.

Pat F can be as intense as he wants to be. Bully for him. I'm just glad Iowa was more physical and just took the game to his scrappy squad this year.

He was probably saying what he thought would help his team the most, which is his job. Not to kiss Iowa message board fans *****.

We beat them, I'm happy, your happy, we're all happy. I don't see the point in looking for reasons to hate another teams coach.

I don't really mind Fitzgerald. I'm guessing that some of the dislike is due to their success against Iowa.

NW is NOT getting the same talent they got under Walker and Barnett. They are scrappy and play their hearts out, but their NFL talent is not like it was under the last two coaches.

Which makes me wonder, what would it take for Fitz to end up on the hot seat? Not saying he is close. Just considering what it would take.

What are you talking about? Barnett only had two great years at NU and the rest were garbage. Fitzgerald may have not won a conference championship like he did, but he has been winning more consistently from year to year. And what exactly did Randy Walker accomplish in 7 years that is so far ahead of Fitz? 4 of his 7 years were below .500 and one was .500.

Was it the game that PF got hurt that Fry said what he said? I dont see anything wrong with Fry saying that, but I can understand it may of not been worded correctly and could have come off as.... well whatever you want to read into it.

Nah, Hayden made that comment to Barnett after one of the many arse-kickings that Hayden applied to NW. In 1995,when Iowa lost to NW on that snowy frigid day in Evanston, and Fitz's leg was gloriously broken, Hayden did not make comments of that nature, cus NW did have a good team and beat Iowa in a tight contest. We sat on 8inches of snow on our seats, and I will never forget how Iowa was driving for the winning td,when our reciever got stripped of the ball and they took it the other way.

I cannot stand Fitz. Here in Chicago, he is in the media a lot,and his act is old...''go cats!''...after every single interview is so junior high.
The media is onto his act also. He treats them with a condenscending, dismissive attitude that rankles the vet scribes like Jim O'Donnell who called him out on it last year. Lecturing the media on how NW is one of those special schools that does it better than Stanford,ND,Vandy, and Duke....yea,right Fitz. This week he angrily tore into the ''negative media'' and ''so-called fans''....the guy is a junior high meatball football coach who harbors grudges against the Illini and ND for not offering him out of high school, and Iowa for breaking his leg....and is out on the field half the game. I remember him running all the way to the middle of the field last year to admonish a special teams player for missing a tackle. Outta control jerk...and it feels great to beat his arse. Now, lets start our own streak.

Cool story, thanks for sharing and for answering my question. I never gave two craps about him, I have noticed during games he is ahhh, not my style of coach, but I have never watched him in the media, but from what you say, yea he sounds like a D-bag.

I don't think he's a DB, I just think he would much rather still be a player than a coach. Since he's only 36, he can probably get away with that persona for a few more years. But eventually you have to accept that you're not the one on the field.

The guy was an NFL level talent, and we have fans here saying things like the "day Fitz's leg was gloriously broken." Can't figure out why he has a hard on for Iowa.

Stay classy.

This is one of the best posts of all time. Flitz is a dbag of epic proportion.

Does anyone else find it funny that the big10 has 11 db's for head coaches and KF? I wonder how we got so lucky.

Full count of DB's and good guys:

DB's: Pelini (top of the heap), Zook, Fitz, Biels, Dantonio (more of a slime ball than a DB).

The rest of the coaches are just fine, IMO.
