Fitzgerald broken leg ... what was the story?

Adding even more spice to a sizzling match-up, Fitzgerald named Barnett as his honorary captain and running back Darnell Autry will serve as grand marshal for the homecoming parade. The school will honor its 1995 Big Ten title team and wear a 20th anniversary Rose Bowl patch in the middle of a collar on its throwback uniform from ... 1995.

LoL.

Another reason to beat them...somehow.

Hatred of another school is what football and rivalries are all about. And that usually takes a personal experience by a player or coach that eventually has an enduring legacy at their school. Barnett and Fitz both do and they both hate Iowa. That really is football. No foul there.

That '95 NU team had all the bounces go their way, until Pasadena. Flukey fumble into a touchdown vs Iowa.

I love that Fitz cares. Its much better than coaching non-answers. Passion for the game is great, even if its in the form of "hate".

Ferentz should bring the player that broke Fitz's leg back as the Hawkeyes' special road trip honorary captain this week and have him come out for the coin toss.
