Fitz Smells Blood

With all the injuries, CJ's condition, and new players in the rotation, Fitz will be absolutely t'ing off on our blockers/CJ. This coupled with all of Fitz's fancy jersey/Rose Bowl pregrame B.S. will have the purple kittens foaming at the mouth.

I know Ferentz tries to be "Mr. Steady," but he and staff need to dial up the emotion this week or we're going to get straight up cornholed. We need a "cowboy the **** up!" mentality throughout the entire game. Others think we can lose this game and be fine. Not true. NW could conceivably run the West table if they get past us--in fact, they'd have to lose an additional 2 West division games for us to have a chance. This game is huge and we can't write it off as a loseable game. Time to sack up! I believe this team has the spirit to do it.

Why would they have to lose two more games for us to have a chance if they beat us? They already have a conference loss.

why the hell is everyone writing this team off just because of a few injuries

Not writing them off by any stretch. But the injuries are at key positions--starting DE, LT, RT, RB, TE, WR and a potentially wobbly QB. Just saying they need to make sure to cultivate a mindset--and be aware of Northwestern's intensity coming into this game.

I'm sure we will be ready to play since we're the only undefeated team on the west division.I still feel we can disrupt them on offense and defense to get the win.

The emotional lift thing only goes so far in places like Evanston in which their home crowd can't generate emotion on their own. Once things wear off and the actual game takes over it will be up to who actually performs better. Honestly I think this game comes down to turnovers. Whoever wins the turnover battle wins the game.

True, though I think Fitz's boyish cheerleading compensates for any crowd let downs.

They never have supported their team very well and hopefully our fans that are going will be the deciding factor.Go Hawks

If we win then we would have to lose three more games for Northeesrten to win out, and that's if they don't lose anymore. We win and we are the favorites to take the division. Having said that ONE game at a time as we are in a position to win or lose every game that is remaining on our schedule. Can't under estimate anyone in the B1G.

This one gets the Mr. Obvious award. I bet we would normally assume fetal position and suck our thumbs but now with a few injuries we have to get angry and emotional to triumph!

I beg to differ. This amount of injuries to starters and key positions is abnormal. Again, taking into consideration where NW's coming from, our injuries, and what's at stake, we need to be ready. I think we will be...but there is much, much less room for error.

We beat them so bad last year, why and how do they become so good this year? I guarantee we wouldn't be shut out by Mich

What's the weather going to be like? I'm not so sure they'll let us run the ball quite like Illinois did the 2nd half. Between our patched up Oline and how good they are that'll be tough sledding. So if it's a colder windy day and makes throwing tougher and kicks tougher to make I just won't like our chances as much. I hate being a negative Nancy here just calling it like I see it. I think this is the week we see how broad CJs shoulders are. Hope he and the receivers are up for it. The good thing is if they are the sky is the limit then it's all down hill from here

Injuries happen to anyone at any position. This isn't the first season we've had injuries. We lost our two starting tackles for the season in one night just a few plays apart a few years ago. Everyone has to be ready to go. That's what they sign up for.

We are going to see Ferentz old school power football in this one. The run blocking with the revamped line was good at the end versus Illinois. I would expect the run / pass ratio to be about 2 to 1 if our line can't handle pass blocking very well. Hope Canzeri gets his rest.

I think the team who wins the turnover battle in this game wins the game.
