"Fish or cut bait" time for Brust?

So someone please help me with the forensics of how the meeting went:

No word for next 2 days = meeting went well, Ben contemplating re-signing?
No word after 3 days = Ben leaning but perhaps resolving final options?
Ben visits other schools = Ben's gone?
Phil Haddy spotted working = Ben coming to IC to announce he's staying?

Sorry, that last one may be a cheap shot.

Its only a cheap shot if it isnt true....and that is true

I don't think he'd burn any bridges, but if there's one thing we've learned it's that this family should be advised of all possible contingencies--and if Caff isn't committed to holding a ride regardless of who else wants to commit, I think he'd probably tell Brust that.

The real question is whether he is committed to holding a ride, and I doubt that he can afford to be.

The question is, how many 2010 players with major conference talent are even available at this point? It's not like FM is in a situation where he can say, "although I don't want to pressure you with regard to a timetable for making your decision, but there are 5 guys I will be offering in the next week and I only have 2 scholarships left." More likely, Brust's scholarship will be banked if he doesn't take it because there is nobody left to offer it to. At least that is my impression. As such, it doesn't make sense to rush Brust now.

The kid has been wearing Hawkeye gear the last 6 months, his car is littered with Iowa decals and a good friend of his (Cully Payne) is on the Iowa basketball team. Although the coaching change could certainly rattle him and the increased interest in him may make him want to at least take a look around, this kid has wanted to be a Hawkeye and play with Cully Payne for the last 6 months. He may be confused now, but let's not **** him off by giving him ultimatums. Just make sure Ben has a great idea of what the new coaching staff has to offer and let things play out.

We have a winner....

....He may be confused now, but let's not **** him off by giving him ultimatums. ....

Just let him know we are still interested in him.... if we line up another guard before he wants to commit then he made the choice (by not comitting) and we move on.

Good luck Ben....
